IOWA STATE TO BIG TEN?!? Dave Wannstedt thinks so.

As weird as it might sound....ISU in the Big 10 does make this place seem a little better. Of course all bets are off and my attitude plummets when our 5 months of winter starts.

I really believe if ISU went to the Big Ten the fans would almost instantly consider us like a long term member or wonder why we weren't in the league from the beginning

Baked in rivals for football - NU and Iowa with Minnesota a strong possibility for a third.

Basketball rivals - NU (because of Fred), Iowa, Kansas just to start....

We even got our nickname playing Northwestern!

Makes too much sense

ISU and Wisky have ties with alumni/grad school type of stuff (not sure of the specifics but I think in the ag world) so may be a fun rivalry there.

Also I doubt it would hurt the WI bball pipeline.

One could hope but I'll temper excitement of this sort of stability until it actually happens or I see the mushroom cloud in Johnson County from WI.

And then imagine the meltdown coming from both directions when we win the West!

If this is going down, we aren't going to hear about it from Dave Wannstadt in the 4th hour of a radio show.

This is certainly the case. If anything is going to happen for ISU to the B1G, there are only a handful of people that have any knowledge of what is being said or has been said. And I'm sure any of that information, if anyone at ISU has any knoledge of, has been placed under lock and key with a strict no talk policy. Also, there is no reason for the ACC, B1G or PAC to do anything spur of the moment. Their best bet is to let this play out and see what happens. Without the Big 12 falling apart, they could be in the same boat as the SEC if any real legal issues come out of this.

So, unless you hear someone from the B1G, Pollard or Wintersteen, it's all just speculation at this point. Dave may as well be my neighbor who thinks ISU would be a good fit in the B1G. I wouldn't doubt if ISU maybe tested the waters with the B1G, but I'd be surprised if anything was said either way at this point. I just don't see any real information coming out until it's settled what OU and UT are going to have to pay to play in the SEC next year.

I mean, we heard about Texas and Oklahoma first at the 11th hour of SEC media days. Stranger things have happened.

But Pete Thamel said today that Iowa State is hosed and will lose Coach Campbell after this season.

Let's hope and pray that Wannstedt is right and it will be confirmed soon. Otherwise I don't think anyone can take 4 more years of this.

Yahoo in general, along with their sports, is some of the worst reporting out there.

A) why is Dave at this type of meeting?
B) if he his why does he have a green light to share it publicly?

Sorry not buying it, until it is actually done.

But man do I want this to happen, living in Chicago ISU would be so much easier to see and travel with!
I've been wanting ISU to get an invite for years. (Also, I'm from the suburbs, I don't claim to be "from Chicago," so don't @ me.) The travel to games would be so amazing, and the Big Ten Network is the best conference network there is. ISU volleyball and softball would be on there all the time.

Wait a second, just so I’m clear on what you’re saying.

We shouldn’t believe anything we don’t hear from official sources? Do You mean like reporters being fed information, too?

The alliance is just the Yalta Conference 2.0. Substitute the Pac 12 for Churchill, the Big 10 for Roosevelt, and the ACC for Stalin. Instead of dividing up eastern Europe, they're dividing up the Big 12.

Hey Your Holiness, I made a Molotov-Ribbentrop analagy a few days ago and I feel like you're encroaching on my analogies. :D

Imagine a world where we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Jack Trice's passing...during a home game vs Minnesota.

Have a moment of silence by the Campanile during the week leading up to the game. Like was done when Jack passed.

I gotta bail out of this thread. I don't like to get excited during realignment. Too much bad info out there.....

But a Big Ten Cyclone team doesn't just pop a rod....it adds an inch
