Voting is open for ISU's all-century team. There are 15 spots on the team and 8 are filled automatically by the former All-Americans: Waldo Wegner (1933-35), Jack Flemming (1935-37), Gary Thompson (1955-57), Zaid Abdul-Aziz "Don Smith" (1966-68), Jeff Grayer (1985-88), Fred Hoiberg (1992-95), Marcus Fizer (1998-2000) and Jamaal Tinsley (2000-01).

The rest are voted on by a 15 person panel and an online vote. Bios of all nominees and a link to the vote can be found here. Just a warning, you'll have to write-in Kenny Pratt. Or not.

Hornacek, Stevens, Big Vic, Uthoff, Willoughby, Wehde and last but not least, Ron Harris.

Thigpen, Homan and Sullivan just missed my cut.

That was a great link! Wow was it hard to come up with only seven to vote for...

In addition to the 8 they provided, my seven were: Jake Sullivan, Jeff Hornacek, Ron Harris, Vic Alexander, Barry Stevens, Jared Homan and Dedric Willoughby.

That was a tough one to fill out, since my basketball knowledge only extends from the 80's on. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Shirley, Homan, Sullivan, & Michalik, because I'm sure there were better players in the past.

Alexander, Hornacek, Willoughby, Meyer, Blalock, Thigpen & Cato

Big V, Horny, Dead-eye, Ivy, Ronnie, Utoff, and of course Stevens. Basketball history before Orr was pathetic, unless you go back decades before that. I did include a couple pre-Orr.

Jacy Holloway? Anyone else miss the pointguard that could run the slowdown offense? I wrote him in just because I miss that type of player right now. Oh for the four corners....

No, I miss a guy like Ron Bayless, who would be another good write-in vote. Jacy was consistent and didn't turn the ball over though.

Justis and Homan were studs but didn't have a great cast around them at all times. Sullivan did a lot for his ability but was a lot better when JT was creating.

Ron Harris
My ISU basketball highlight came from blocking a Ronnie Harris shot during a pickup game at State Gym (after his eligibility had expired). After he got over the shock, he took a "special interest" in me and my recollection is that I didn't touch the ball again nor did I get within ten feet of the basket when attempting to rebound! :laugh8kb:

My personal brush with greatness...

No love for Jake Sullivan. That guy did more with less than anybody who has ever worn an ISU uniform. Well, maybe him and hornacek

what about shawn bankhead.. is that how u spell his name??
and then Stevie Johnson!!

If Floyd and Larry would have played Stevie at the 4 throughout his career, instead of being stuck on the wing for 3 years, he would have had a great 4 years.

Hornacek has to be the first one of the 7 picks right?

Gotta love Vroman and Michalik if not for anything else but classy name value.

If McCarney would have had Stevie Johnson on the football field for 4 years, I think he would have had a hell of a career as a linebacker. That year he played, he did a hell of a job as a back up. That was fun to watch.
