Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Do I think Texas will be a middle of the pack SEC team? Absolutely not. Some of these people saying this I wonder if they will be the same ones saying the SEC is overrated when those playoff rankings come out.
You know how it goes here. Texas is struggling now so they have no chance to ever be good in the future. They're a good hire away from being Texas again. Even in the SEC.

What has Texas done to make you think they could compete for the top 4 spots in that conference?

Obviously this is not a good situation for any of the teams remaining in the Big 12.

But I still don’t understand everyone’s assumption we’ll be the team left in the dust. Academics matter. Facilities matter. Trajectories matter.

There’s a lot more that matters nowadays than TV market and the fact we were bad back in 2007. Get out of your BCS brains for one second.

I believe the main fear is that we don’t necessarily know if the other conferences were to expand and who’d they’d grab. If they don’t expand, then the fear is ISU is left in a Big 12 + AAC type of conference with far less money and exposure.

If the other conferences do expand, ISU isn’t necessarily guaranteed a seat at the table.

Guess one of the Texas regents, Kevin Eltife, is the driving force for this move for UT. I wouldn't mind punching him in the face.

Or pooping in a bag and leaving it on fire on his doorstep.

Ironically I thought the CFP expansion was good for the Big 12. Turns out a ploy to have the SEC make up half the field each year?

Having the CFP not limiting conference exposure to two teams was a ticking time bomb. Plain and simple, they created a system where you didn't need to win anything to be in. Start the season in the Top 25 and manage to hang around, and let the ESPN talking heads do the rest.

We are basically going to have to start bribing the right people. Otherwise it is totally out of ISU's control.

What would make me nervous as a Texas fan is that by joining the SEC you are opening the state of Texas recruiting flood gates.

So what are the odds Texas and OK actually go to the SEC? I'm still thinking it is at 25% it actually happens.

Go away. We’re dealing with our own problems and don’t need your help.
