Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

I expect Jamie to come out with a statement soon, and I have to believe he’s been somewhat prepared for this since the Grant of Rights will expire in a couple of years. I recall him making the statement a few years ago that we needed to get very good at football real soon. He’s going to take care of the program and Do what he can. But I don’t think the BIG will expand anytime soon, so we may wind up rebuilding the Big 12 with two new schools.

If we are staying in a rebuilt Big 12 (glorified American) then Jamie will likely see the undoing of everything he has built over the last 15 years. The Big 12 is dead. Big 10 or PAC 16….anything else is a death sentence.

If the schedule all of a sudden is an AAC schedule it will crater my interest. I wish it weren’t true but it is.
And we all know it would for the average fan who might follow casually, which if we’re being honest with ourselves is the large majority of any fanbase.

Wisconsin and Iowa only appear as strong as Michigan and Penn State because they don’t play the same schedule. Both are exposed any time they play good competition. The problem with B1G divisions is that it’s really hard to split UM-OSU-MSU because of the rivalries and sending Penn State to the West makes no sense for travel. Maybe the answer is adding KU to the B1G East and moving an existing team to the West.

KF has a winning record vs Michigan and Penn State.

I wouldn’t blame him for retiring if that happened. Would be demoralizing and hard to be motivated about the future.

There are still Rutgers alumni in NYC and that is why they were added. I'm sure they are on in more places than you think. The advertising money within that market made them an attractive pick. It's all about money. Like I said if they gave a **** about actually making their product better they would have added Pitt years ago.
Rutgers was purely for B1G TV channel eyeballs in NY, that's it.

What would you rather see? I have yet to see a better option.
No, some of you have just refused to allow yourselves to think that the SEC grabbing up two football teams means nothing to the other conferences. The other conferences are going to pick and choose from the Big 12 and that means we’re getting chosen.

ISU to the Big 1G is never happening. ISU can't add more than they'd take away from the pot.

The only realistic scenario for ISU is the Big 12 continues in its current form. OU and TX leaving would relinquish power 5 status. The TV contract would fall through the floor. The tickets and donations would fall through the floor. ISU would be absolutely devastated.

It's completely disingenuous to call ISU a top 10 football program. It's one of the worst programs in college football history. If flashes in the pan mattered Boise State would be playing in a big boy conference.

This is 100% incorrect. NCAA decides under their by laws what a Power 5 conference is...and if the big 12 has at least 6 teams it is still a conference. SEC/BIG/ACC whoever or CFP committee does not decide which conference earns the status of Power 5...The NCAA does.

Kansas St would get a Pac-12 invite before Iowa St.

Explain why this would happen?
Viewership? no.
AAU ? KSU is academically inferior to Iowa State

Not to mention that KSU doesn’t even have a president at this time.

If KSU gets into to the PAC-16 it will be after Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas and Texas Tech are offered.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Either way, us in the pac 12 would be very bad for us.
