Iowa Beat Writers

Unlike CMC Mike apparently has trouble staying on topic. As the season progresses I am sure they will get tired of hearing about ISUs players. Too bad hawk fans.

trying to find a video out there but someone made one few months back of all the newly hired basketball coaches in college this year and almost every single one of them mentioned "culture" in their opening speeches.

i sort of see what he's saying.. it is REALLY pounded into the ground from coaches.

whats different with CMC is he actually follows through with it and you can actually see the shift. not the case at many of these other programs.

The reason why these coaches are emphasizing culture is that they are realizing how important it is. My workplace has emphasized culture multiple times recently, especially with everyone working from home.

Bingo....in a team game good culture has everybody pulling in the same direction for the good of you and the person next to you. You hold people accountable and work hard because you know the rest of the group is doing the same for you. Poor culture just ends up with everybody looking out for themselves.

Exactly.....so many coaches can say that word after signing a 5 year contract and bolt instantly when more money gets offered by a different program. To them culture means everything, but somehow money means more.

Meanwhile, Campbell turns down **** you money from the Lions and doesn't push for a giant raise for himself, but a bigger pool of money for hiring/retaining assistant coaches. He actually cares about the people around him....it's refreshing.

I won't argue that Iowa's beat writers are bad, but CW is a fanboy too if you ask Iowa fans.
CW is certainly biased.. but owns that lol. And he is 100% not afraid to stick his neck out there and ask the hard questions / be very critical of those he covers.

This comment by Mike was cry baby, whiney bull s*** in which he’s mad that he had to see Matt Campbell’s face all over ESPN while listening to words that go directly against what Iowa’s culture is. He’s just as ignorant as the Iowa fans that think Kirk did nothing wrong and none of this will matter in the grand scheme of things.

agreed.

now mike could have been pinpointing towards iowa state.. little hard to not think that being he said what he said during iowa states media day.

but the word "culture" gets thrown away quite a bit now a days.

You know there’s a difference between newspaper journalists and people that run a fan site right? Even still, CW is fair and objective in his ISU assessments, and I dont know, I guess I would expect the person publishing a site called Cyclone Fanatic to maybe lean that way.

Things are getting testy out East
