Good players going to great programs. Some people can't see or admit the difference.
I would've liked to have JCL for next year but I'll take a swap of Enaruna for JCL.
I find laughing at the artistic and corporate incompetence, mismanagement, and maleficence that has marked the franchise since at least the mid-1990s pretty entertaining. I am not really complaining; I am way past the point of caring here and mostly just like to point and laugh at it all.
I find that way more fun than Star Wars itself at this point. Then again, I am kind of a weirdo who likes reading books about survival situations, shipwrecks, and financial scandals... just generally the extremes of the human experience... so maybe I am kind of weird enjoying watching it burn down.
Meh. Competent but uninspiring sci-fi action film. Certainly nothing as embarrassing as the prequels, the Disney Wars sequels, and Solo, but the whole thing felt kind of bloodless.
If it didn't have the Star Wars IP attached, it would be remembered like John Carter or Jupiter Ascending.
As in, "Wait, what? Never heard of that movie."
Definitely the best out of the other ones, though, but it doesn't have much for competition.

I think the bigger story that hasn't been discussed much here is that KU has kind of reloaded this spring and should be scary good. Barf.
BT has them #3 right now. Up there with some of the best teams of the Self era.
I still miss the 2020 tournament not being played. Not that I have a lot of sympathy for Kansas fans, but that might have been the best team in school history. But it never got a chance to prove it.
Enaruna may have a higher ceiling, but JCL has a higher floor. I would rather have JCL. By going to Kansas, he is showing that he doesn't have to be the main weapon. He would have fit in better here. Alas, it's all water under the bridge.
This is a great point, actually. 2 guys good enough to transfer to 2 of the top programs in America is just further proof of the disaster Steve Prohm was to only win 2 games last year.
Nobody ever said Bolton and Coleman-Lands weren't great players.
They were. They'd start on anybody outside of the Top 5 in the country (roughly).
After those two... Not sure any high-major teams would have wanted any of our guys last year.
Maybe Foster on potential (not on productivity or health, though) and maybe Young as a high-floor/low-ceiling big man you could have for emergency depth, but not as a starter.
I think the real fault wasn't misusing those two guards...
The real fault was just the rest of the roster sucked.
And yes, that is on Prohm and his staff. Too many recruiting misses and too little development.
Did I read that Self said that they needed to bring in 9 guys this year? JCL is a good depth piece. I liked him on our squad and wish he'd have stayed. He would indeed be the best shooter on the squad as others have noted. He also must not have much confidence he could play professionally overseas ....
I hope he gets applauded when he plays at Hilton. He was a good Cyclone.

Prohm sucked, but just because these two are playing at KU and Gonzaga next year doesn't mean they're Paul Pierce and John Stockton reincarnated.
1. They were our best two players.
2. They will not even remotely be KU or Gonzaga's best players - probably bench/role players imho.
3. Neither played defense.
4. Bolton turned it over way too much.
5. Coleman-Lands didn't create much for others.
I wish them both luck, but we saw the results last year and it wasn't just because Prohm wasn't a good coach.
I think you have to take into account that they get JCL for one year, and we get Enaruna for 2 (or possibly 3).
People overrate coaching/game planning/X's and O's/development and underrate raw recruiting.
More often the team with the better horses wins. Period.
I will note the converse is true in football -- recruiting is overrated relative to those other factors.
Yes VII was totally derivative, but IX made VII look like The Godfather. IX was ROCK. BOTTOM.
Also, good for JCL. I hope he gets some PT, gets to win some games, and gets seom coaching that will help him play somewhere for pay down the road (assuming that's his goal).
