Cy-Hawk Game This Year: Revenge or Just Shutting Up Their Idiot Fans?

Lets be honest though...if both schools refused to play each other in the future...it is more likely that both schools add an additional MAC team to the schedule than they would add a school from the P5.

I was told the only thing holding Iowa back from getting Notre Dame to come to Iowa City is the CyHawk game. They probably think they can get a home and home with Alabama too.

Well you usually know best. I will take your word for it. Maybe Pollard should try harder and grow a pair to just not schedule it anymore.
are you kidding? this game floated Pollard's season ticket sales for years. He has an attachment to it. Plus who knows who he'll have left around after 21. He might need this game to hang his hat on again as soon as 23. He's not likeable but he's not stupid either.

Yes and vice versa
Idk, in basketball we do not care about that game nearly as much as opposing fan bases and have conference rivals. ISU and KU, Iowa and Illinois. Those games are more intense than Iowa vs ISU basketball. I think if it disappeared ISU would find KSU and Oklahoma a lot more of a rival.

That would be stupid. Both schools would be ripped for that. Give Iowa Colorado and ISU Minnesota. It would be more fun to me as a casual fan of ISU

I agree with you on that! But...the other schools you mentioned would have to be on board as well! I just believe ending the Iowa/Iowa State series would result in another MAC game on the schedule. The argument would be framed as both schools getting an extra home game every other season.

You guys literally split with them and have had their number in recent years. ISU should win the big 12 or at least be in the championship game of the big 12.
we did but they won the game that truly mattered. Until the Sooners are dethroned, they'll continue to be the favorite. Key word "favorite". Never said we can't be in the championship game but we're not the favorite to win the conference.

I would love the series to end

What if Kapt Kirks replacement is a Ron Prince wannabe and we go on a 15 year win streak?

I'd just assume not play them really either, tired of the BS. But I'd hate for it to end if they could become the garbage P5 OOC opponent we all would like to have every year.

Cyclone fans that sell their tickets to hawk fans just for this game are not even fans in my book. If anyone around us sells theirs to hawk fans and they come to the next home game, they will hear about if from me!! Damn sellout fans is what they are!!
I agree. Don't be a Colorado fan who gave every Nebraska fan a ticket in Boulder a couple years ago. That place was 80% red

One of my biggest gripes is finding some greasy hoks sitting near me. I'm thinking, how in the hell did they get the tickets? So I ask, because I'm very inquisitive, and they said the people that have the season tickets there sold them the tickets. JFC! Don't do it. Just don't sell or give tickets to some greasy hoks.

There is an ISR board for a reason. I think you know that. You can tell everyone that Iowa's biggest rival is Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Nebraska but you'd be full of ****.
It depends on how you look at it.
The rivalry with the most hatred and bad blood? Definitely ISU.
The most important one? Wisconsin.
The most annoying? Minnesota.
The stupidest one? Nebraska.

Honest question, besides Iowa, what quality P5 opponent has ISU scheduled recently with their success?
uh we don't have an option, we play a round robin schedule. And despite Texas sucking the last decade, they still have far more talent than we do and OU is always at the top of the Big 12 and has made the playoffs numerous times. Iowa is our non con P5 opponent and we play a pretty tough schedule in conference play.

This will be the biggest game in series history. So many factors at play:

No game last season. Full crowds returning. Both teams top 15. Iowa State's best chance of a CFP berth. Iowa the spoiler in a reversal of typical roles. Iowa State will be favored.

The pressure is on Iowa State and that scares me. Obviously we have enough firepower to win, especially at home, but Iowa is a good program and will have a good team. I suspect we'll have a Heacock special waiting for Petras. It will be his first game in front of a crowd, and it's against a confusing and atypical defense.
