The Fran fade

Curious if the Hawk fans think Iowa is truly playing better defense lately. I haven’t watched many games, but did watch Rutgers and Wisconsin. Maybe they did against Rutgers, but it seemed like Wisconsin was getting a lot of good looks but just couldn’t hit them. On the flip side, there may have been some games earlier where defense was “ok” but the other teams were just shooting lights out.

I’d argue their defense has slightly improved, but it’s the game to game nuances of opponent shooting that swings it. Don’t take this as looking to get in an argument, just curious of your thoughts.
I'm curious what Hawk fans think too, but personally compare it to Iowa State "holding" Kansas to 64 points last weekend. Did Iowa State play hard-nosed defense? No, Kansas just couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat for most of the game.

so maybe try and be better when you post these things

I don't. Those are three of the worse shooting teams in the Big 10. I'm not buying it.

Th
There’s more to the game than shooting.

0 turnovers 5 assists
He hates that Bohannon played 35 mins and had 0 turnovers. He doesn't understand that even when Bohannon is not shooting well, the other team still makes it a priority to guard him. Iowa played a lot of man defense last night and Trice was 3-15 with Bohannon guarding him. All CyTwins looks at is the box score, so points are all that matter. That's why Bolton is his hero.

I do. I think it hit its low point after the ohio state game and after that it improved pretty significantly. A lot less ussage of the zone. We probably played zone 75 percent up to that point. Since then 180, probably play zone 25 percent. Thats biggest x's and o's adjustment we've made and it was the proper 1. Then intensity has picked up especially from Bohannon which ill credit him with. We gave up 81, 75, and 78 to Indian, Rutgers and Michigan state first time we played. In 2nd matchups which all took place after the previously mentioned ohio state game we gave up 67, 66, and 58. Throw in 62 as well to Wisconsin last night. I think it's obvious its improved. A lot less layups and dunks

It’s kinda funny all media and Iowa fans are all like “We are great on D!”.. vs some of the worst offenses in P5.. Wisconsin offense was one worst I’ve seen.. Had nothing to do with Iowa. Wisc couldn’t hit a barn last night.. They were bad.
Wisconsin has the 41st best offense according to KenPom. That would put them at 4th best offense in the Big 12.

He was 1-7 from the floor. A bad shot is basically a turnover right?

I'm glad you admit Connor was terrible last night
He didn't take a bad shot. He took a long 3 before half and he shot a 30 footer with 15 secs left in the game up 15 points as the shot clock was about to expire.

Indiana, Michigan State and Wisconsin aren't in the top 40 in offense per KenPom though, so although it's good you didn't give up a lot of points, the defensive performance isn't exactly eye opening all things considered.

We gave up about 50 combined less points to the same teams from first go around i don't know how you can't at least acknowledge the defense has improved. I'm not even saying we're good defensively I'm just saying we've improved which was the question
