Looking for a good coffee maker. Typically just black coffee, I don't need anything too fancy.

Any recommendations?

My venerable old Krups died last month. I replaced it with a Cuisinart 12-Cup Classic Coffeemaker from Target. At $80, not the cheapest nor the most expensive. Makes good coffee, I am only brewing 6-7 cups and works fine for half pots. Also has a 1-4 cup setting that I have not used. Takes #2 paper filters and comes with a reusable wire mesh filter also. I'd rather dump grounds and a filter than clean a filter each day but it good to have as a backup if you run out of filters. Has a water filter also. Nothing fancy but you can program it to auto start or just do it manually. You can set how long it will stay hot before turning itself off.

BTW, long answer because black coffee is my friend. Also whatever you buy, run a pot of hot water brew before brewing your first coffee otherwise you first pot-o-coffee will taste crappy.

I bought the cheapest coffee maker Target has to offer (like $15) and its lasted me years without a problem. Its simple, rugged, and makes me the finest cup of Folgers you can ask for. Cheap black coffee tastes the best out of cheap coffee makers. Haha

I have an 8 cup Mr Coffee Thermal Gourmet. (realistically 4 cups)
They no longer make it. It's programmable and has a glass insulated carafe that keeps the coffee hot for a decent amount of time.

This is a nice feature I wish mine had. I drink coffee through the morning and mine turns off after 2 hours and it gets cold very quickly. So annoying.

Our carafe broke once, so we just bought another cheap Mr. Coffee, only it didn't have an automatic turnoff feature. Didn't realize that was even an option at this point. Make sure it at least does that.

Had a ninja that quit working after 3 months and the replacement they sent did the same **** so **** ninja. We now have a bunn.

I have one similar to his (you can find them more reasonable)...i've loved it. https://www.target.com/p/ninja-coffee-bar-glass-carafe-coffee-system-cf091/-/A-51141891

I mainly got it as I liked the ability to make a single cup (without a pod), have used the frother (and it's not steam based) and is a good size for us. https://www.target.com/p/ninja-coffee-bar-glass-carafe-coffee-system-cf091/-/A-51141891

LOL......yeah, a simple, basic coffee maker can be found pretty cheap...i had one that didn't have shut off in an office once....lots of "scrubbing" sessions on the old oil/tar coffee residue when left on

Yep...it's hot water dripping into your ground coffee and then into your pot. Not rocket science.

In fact, if you only drink one or two cups, the pour-over deals are even cheaper and have the same end results. I microwave some water and pour into this thing with a filter and my ground coffee sitting on top of my cup.

Oooh, might have to get one of those. Have a #2 gold filter from deceased Krup that would fit this.

Looks pretty close to what we had. I liked it when it worked but like I said, after 3 months we’d turn it on and 10 seconds later it would beep 5 times and shut off. Completely cleaned it per directions and same 5 beeps of death, same exact thing with the replacement. We’ve got a ninja blender that works great but I’ll never own another one of their coffee makers.
