Iowa Football Recruiting

lost by 1 to the #10 team but would've had no shot at the #9 team?
I never said we would've beaten Iowa. I said we would've gotten 10 wins because we would've gotten to play South Dakota and UNLV who were terrible. I just found it funny that you said Iowa State wasn't good because we lost to Louisiana in our first game and then went on the road to beat TCU who was better than anyone in the Big 10 West not named Northwestern.

TCU's "bad loss" was against KSU, however that was prior to KSU's COVID issues and their starting QB going down for the year. Other than that they lost to OSU, Iowa State and WVU.
my point is that anybody that thinks the outcome of an Iowa vs Iowa State game this past season would've been a certainty is flat out crazy. I know you haven't said that but others have. It could've easily went either way.

He was not even talking about recruiting when I asked him who had the better basketball program.

I am sure he wasn't, so it just furthers the question, what does basketball have to do with this thread?

I know you know and are too knuckleheaded to drop it because you don't have any other argument but I don't like letting cowards like you off the hook.

I'm certain Iowa State wasn't losing to Spencer Petras who has never beaten a good team in his career

Yeah I'm in agreement. This whole thing stemmed from that NorthEnd character stating that Campbell hasn't proved his longevity at Iowa State because he hasn't won 10 games yet. All I said was that it's not really fair to say that due to the fact that Campbell would've had two more wins had he gotten to play UNLV and SD. That's it. In my scenario, I even gave Iowa the win for the sake of not arguing about it.

saying you weren't a good team was a direct response. More like you weren't playing that good. Losing to Iowa was well within the realm of possibility. Iowa clearly didn't come out of the gates really well either.

Iowa had 9 combined guys leave early for the NFL after the 2017-2019 seasons. Since then, the Hawkeyes have won over 73% of their games. Until the wins start to drop it seems premature to assume the Iowa program is in shambles.
So you're hoping Jason Severn has twin sons wanting to comitt to the HoKKKs.

Who knows if how they played out of the gates was any different then how they played the last couple of games when they are playing trash competition. If Kirkkk thought they were really tough, I don’t think he avoids playing multiple games.

So NOW your defense of Iowa's Recruiting (don't let the thread title confuse you) is that ISU's success is not sustainable. Your first paragraph confuses me, are you saying ISU won't be as good because it takes time to develop players and that CMC hasn't had time to develop players? I mean, everyone is back and will have another year of development AND has allowed CMC to better develop his later recruiting classes without forcing them into duty too early not to mention the level of competition increasing for starting positions. Anyone with any impartiality will look at the OLine today and what is coming over the next 2-3 years and know it will be light years ahead of what CMC had to work with the 1st half of his tenure.

Back to the subject...

So are you saying that ISU won't do any better than Iowa going forward. THAT doesn't make sense either. How can ISU have similar result to Iowa when our recruiting classes are in the 40's, 50's, 60's and Iowa's are in the 20's, 30's, 40's? Isn't that really the question of this thread? How effective is Iowa's recruiting?

Um, I never said any of this, you need to stop projecting.

And outside of the very first year Matt Campbell coached Iowa State we've won 8, 8, 7, and 9 games. Haven't really seen much of a drop right? So why should we expect Iowa State to revert back to being bad? Assuming Campbell stays, Iowa State's success should continue.

I don't see anyone saying ISU is going to be bad under CMC. What I am saying is they will go back to 7/8 wins after '21.
