Iowa Football Recruiting

You have proven conclusively that even Prohm can win with Fred's players.
Corky this thread is about football. If you want to morph it I am ok with that. I would like to discuss the last time you blew @CyTwins

Both topics are equally valid in this thread.

Hell lets say you are 10-4 or 12 -4, still perennial 2nd place in the B1G West despite having Top 30 Recruiting classes and longest tenured coach in CFB.

The prediction stands 8-4 and 2nd Place in B1G West and ho-hum bowl game. next year, year after, year after that.

8-4 leads to ho hum bowl games, be that Iowa or ISU. Camping world bowl, alamo bowl, pinstripe bowl, liberty bowl, taxslayer bowl this is where 8 win Big10 and Big12 teams go.

It would be nice to be able to lose 2 conference games and make the conference championship game like in the Big12. That has happened 5 times in the 6 years the Big12 went to a championship game. In the Big10 West/Legends if you lose 2 conference games there is only a 20% chance you make the championship game. It has only happened 2 times in the last 10 years since they went to a championship game. In the Big10 West you have to be so much more perfect to make a championship game, no slip ups, unlike the Big12 who welcomes 2 times losers all the time in it's championship game.

That's a stupid comment. Do you maybe think that it is because of the round-robin structure where the two teams that eventually play each other have to play in the regular season? Guarantees one of the teams has a loss and if both teams only have one loss outside of that game, one will have two losses. How many times did two b1g teams in the CCG with one loss each actually play each other in the regular season?

You might not like it, but it is true. With the Round Robin you are letting in teams with 2 and 3 conference losses. That doesn't happen in the Big10 West. ISU fans think the Round Robin makes everything so tough, but it has it benefits as well.

To show just how easy this can be, take 2019 for instance. There were 3 Big12 teams that finished in the AP top 25. So that means if you were a top 25 team, you only had to face 2 other top 25 teams, and then play 7 unranked teams on your conference schedule. That is what Iowa did in 2015, and you guys say that was a cream puff schedule, but that is all the Big12 champ and runner up had to do in '19, '18, '17, and '16. They had to play 2 other Top 25 teams and 7 unranked conference opponents, and bang they are making the Big12 Championship game.

Big10 West had two top 25 teams this year. So about 30% of the conference, which is what the Big12 traditional has ranked in the top 25 at the end of the year (at least from '16-'19).

More Blah.. blah.. blah..blah.. wash, rinse, and repeat. You are so boring with all the same material just made up again so you think you can make Iowa look better than the racist program they are! GFY!!

Why'd you only use the legends division for this? Lol

In the 3 years of the Leaders/Legends divisions, 2 out of the 3 B1G Championship games had teams that lost twice to conference foes during the regular season. Wisconsin in 2011 and Wisconsin again in 2012. So, 67% of the time in those weird divisions, a team went to the championship with 2 conference losses.

Since the conference went to East/West divisions, 2 out of the 7 times there have been teams with 2 conference losses in the championship game. Also, Northwestern who went 8-4 won the Big 10 West in 2018. They only lost 1 conference game leading up to the championship game however they did lose back to back non-con games to Duke and Akron that year. That's pathetic.

That's 4 of 10 years and 40%. It makes no sense using just the legends division. Stop cherry picking. Be better.

What does NW non conference record have to do with winning a conference? Should ISU's loss to ULL hurt in for the Big12 standings? We are talking conference record for conference championships.

I only looked at the division that Iowa was in, and Iowa has only been in a division that had a 2 loss champion two times in 10 years. ISU is in the Big12 and it has had a 2 or 3 conference loss team in it's championship game in 4 of the last 5 years.

That data clearly shows that ISU has had a much easier shot of making a conference championship game than Iowa has. They can afford to lose 2 conference games a year, Iowa hasn't had that luxury.
