I was told by Iowa fans recently that a first place finish in a round robin regular season isn't a big deal and the postseason title is all that matters
No they didn't specify the sport.
So finishing in first place in basketball is important but finishing in first place in football isn't?

Both are an impressive achievement no doubt. Having said that football doesn't have a tournament. It has a conference championship game. In basketball it has a regular season winner and then a tournament. You know all this of course
You play every team twice in basketball and every team once in football. You have to play 3 games in the conference postseason minimum for basketball and only 1 game for football
Do we really have to take lessons from a B1G fan on how to determine conference champions?

I think one of the has the highest ratio of 1 hand dunks to 2 hand dunks in the B1G. This is stuff you don't see but makes the team gel.
