Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Iowa's got possibility the easiest schedule they could ever dream of. MSU and PSU are brutal this year, Nebraska, MN, IL, and Minny are all bad.
And yet, Iowa in all likelihood, will be just as brutal as the above. This was a guaranteed undefeated or at worst, 1 loss season for the Hawks given crappiness of the opposing teams.

I don't think Iowa wins @ Minnesota, @ Penn State, or home vs. Wisconsin. They'll beat Illinois and Nebraska to go 3-5.

You are not a good troll. Sit back and watch Twins and take pointers.

Why would I have to watch Twins? Your lame pathetic attempts are humor enough. Been on here long enough to see where he goes with things. You like most hawk trolls are clueless. Plus he has enough clout to rile up the idiots on HR.

Hunter? Yeah he’s good. The Big 10 has 3 teams in the top 10 and 4 in the top 15. There is also 3 in the top 25. That’s 7 ranked teams (half the conference) and you still have Michigan and Minnesota who will be tournament teams (Minny is probably on the bubble). That’s a crazy tough schedule Iowa is going to have.

Did you know that Penn state and Michigan were highly ranked in the preseason football polls?

They are one of the youngest teams in the country and breaking in a new QB. It's disappointing but not surprising that they've started slow. Not having the additional practices or non-con games is a tough break for a new QB. It is what it is though.

I'll play devil's advocate a bit here.. Weren't Purdue and Northwestern in similar situations as Iowa?

Purdy played at 18 and did just fine. Petras has been on Iowa's campus for 3 years now. He's a redshirt sophomore who was also an early enrollee. Lol cmon

And his non-conference games were against UNI (top-3 FCS team) and a ranked ISU team.. Not like he was going to be facing cupcakes to start the season had the schedules not gotten messed up.

I just think it's funny Iowa's "new" QB is older than our QB and has been on a college campus way longer than ours lol

Even Sean Bock is giving him the benefit of the doubt right now. It's okay to admit he's just an average QB.

Talent matters more than age. Purdy is the more talented QB by far.
Yeah I just don't get the new or young excuse at the QB position. He's been on campus for three years he just isn't good. It'd be like me saying Sean Foster is new or young because he hasn't seen hardly any reps until this year

Bock and the other 247 guy worship Iowa athletes
Bock at least isn't a turd. He really enjoys covering Iowa HS kids as evidenced by the piece he just did on the Grinnell OL. David is a straight up Iowa fan and it's obvious.

And the way the announcers say every game that he broke all of Jarod Goff's HS records, which is hilarious. Wait till he plays an OSU defense. Campbell sent Purdy in against Okie State on the road in the middle of the game and he's been our guy since.

Meaningful snaps are incredibly meaningful to players that might not be talented enough to play right away. My argument was that even if Iowa would've gotten their original non-con games this year, they would've been against a very good FCS and what is currently the best team in the Big 12.

To be fair, that Okie State defense isn't close to being what they are currently. But your point remains. Purdy had an incredible game and then followed that up with a top-10 victory against WVU in his second game of his career.

the big 12 is awful this year. Don't throw bricks in glass houses.

Purdy is better than Petras, but that's not saying alot.

Also, how the hell did this thread turn into a football discussion?
