All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

I didn't. Michigan State must really suck. Too bad for Rocky but he's just not a D1 level QB
Lombardi is not good. I think he has some nagging injury because he was really gimpy. I saw some small improvement from Petras, mostly with him making better decisions and not forcing the ball to receivers who aren’t open. BF finally (thank god) utilized Goodson in the right way and he played a great game. Nixon and Golston are both playing at a high level and Heflin has come a long way from the Purdue game. I also really am liking what I see from Seth Benson, the new MLB. He reminds me a lot of Josey Jewell with his way to be around the ball all the time and he never gives up on plays. He also is quicker then Jewell was which is an added bonus. I also think Cody Ince is going to be really good. He played really well on Saturday with it being his first start ever. I still think there is a lot of improvement to be made and this is a really really young team (sort of like you guys last year) and I think they will get better as the season goes.

I saw bits, honestly Rocky was so bad that you couldn’t really notice anything else. Feel bad since he is an Iowa kid. Imagine what he gets from his dad most likely also, makes you feel more for him.
What’s the deal with his dad?

Unless your QB play improves you're going to be pretty limited even with that schedule IMO

I agree. I did like what I saw from Padilla but that was a super small sample size. I think Petras has the talent to be a decent QB but talent means nothing if you can’t unlock it.

Why do you think Petras has the talent? From what I've seen he's very inaccurate and isn't mobile

Accuracy can be developed he’s got a strong arm but his accuracy is his problem. I honestly don’t know what to really think with him. If you had to ask me, I’d take let Padilla get some time in games this year, he reminds me a bit of Drew Tate.

I think Petras is a worse version of Stanley at this point in time. Can he get better? Sure, but Petras has looked average to below average against two terrible defenses, and looked god awful against an above average-good defense in Northwestern.

Last weeks game is going to be one of the only ways Iowa is going to win games this year imo. Force turnovers. Keep the ball on the ground as much as possible. If you do throw it, don't make Petras have to read anything or think, just get the ball out of his hands, produce on special teams.

@CloneLawman got mad at me because I asked how it was going in the game thread before I had even looked at your guys score. I proceeded to get a 3 day ban for that.
Nice cover, troll. I'd give it about a 6. It has been a firmly established tradition that game day threads (miserable though they may be) are for ISU fans-- not for "curious" Hawks, nor the opposing team. So the odds were stacked against you from the start.

This I agree with. We have a a good trio of RB’s and a good o-line. We will have to keep the ball on the ground and when we throw, it needs to be to LaPorta, Tracy, Smith, and Ragaini across the middle. When ISM gets back, I hope he has his head on straight and buckles down and works hard the rest of the way.

And when I was nice, I got banned? That’s really soft.

Yup. Bootlegs to Laporta, quick hits across the middle to Tracy or Ragaini, 10 yard out routes / fades to Smith / ISM. That's all you're going to get out of Petras this year anyway because I think he's too much of a head-case. He freaks out when he's got too much time or when pressure is on him.

This weekend should be interesting. Minnesota's defense is B.A.D. But, their offense is pretty darn good and they just might have the best RB in the conference. It also helps having Tanner Morgan and Bateman. Iowa has to be able to shut down that offense because you can't get down early and have to have Petras bring you back into the game by passing. Should be a good game though. I see something like 30-27 or 30-24 either way.

I agree with all those plays above. Also, no more damn screens or the stupid wildcat. To win this weekend, I think we need to play the LB’s closer to the LOS to be ready to get on Ibrahim. We were able to limit Minny last year but that was also with an elite defense. I think we will win, but I’m still worried.

Allen over LaPorta
Enyi needs to be on there

I still take LaPorta over Allen. Less drops, more yards. Enyi is good, it’s just tough to take off Nixon or Golston because they both have been really good.
Allen has been really good this year actually. He's known for a blocker and I'm assuming LaPorta isn't (hence Beyer playing a lot) but Allen Already has 173 yards and two TDs
