Kansas State

Bye week came at a great time. Lots to clean up (last bye week they felt high and mighty from their performance against Tech). The team will feel a lot of pressure from the staff to improve this week.

ISU is playing three flawed, but tough teams for the rest of their schedule. The more disciplined, polished and all around teams will win. Let’s hope that is ISU all three games.

Win the first two and WVU is icing, won’t need to win that one to make the championship

Kansas St. isn’t too far off from what ISU is.

ISU has a sizeable advantage at QB and has more playmakers on offense, but the KSU scheme and OL still allow for a “ball control” type of junk game.

ISU is better up front on the DL and has better linebackers, but the KSU DB’s are very good and will give the ISU passing game fits. KSU will give our pass protection some troubles.

KSU has a sizable advantage in most areas of special teams. I’d almost go as far to say that if ISU can prevent big plays from KSU special teams, KSU will struggle to score.

Put a different name on the jersey and everyone is really confident about that game, ISU fans just have some trauma we’re still working through.

K-State wasn't that good last year and the result was a true beating that ISU hasn't had happen very often under CMC.

That trauma exists because we’ve seen how well coached and how they don’t beat themselves very often for years. That wins games regardless if they don’t have quite the personnel they would like. There’s no reason to think this years K state team isn’t extremely capable of that.

This is a must win game imo.

When you look at tie-breaker scenarios and likely outcomes, it sure seems like unless OSU beats OU (which I doubt happens) it is starting to look likely that ISU needs to win both KSU and UT to get into the conference game. The exception to that is OSU wins bedlam. Then you could have either:
-ISU goes 2-1 with a loss to KSU. UT beats KSU in the last week of the season
-ISU goes 2-1 with a loss to UT. KSU beats UT in the last week of the season

OSU dropping that game to Texas really narrowed ISUs path. Regardless, ISU is two wins vs an unranked team at home and #21 on the road from being in the title game with a slight chance that if they drop one of those they can still get in.

I don't think Kansas State beats Texas, so lose to KState and ISU is in too.
ISU vs Texas in Austin is for a trip to Dallas.

As of right now I agree with this, but if ISU loses to KSU and beats UT, I think there's a much greater chance that in that last game UT folds and KSU could win. UT would have really nothing to play for.

The team might not have anything to play for but their coach would.

Even if KState wins out, then it comes down to how OSU finishes.
Could you see OSU losing 2 of these games? I can.

K State will be tough, they are the best coached team in our league, have a really good defense and a QB that can run the ball. We are the better team but they play much more disciplined and if they stymied Okie St, they can slow us down too. I expect a great gameplan from them. If we win turnovers/penalties and can stop their run game (they are smart enough to stick to it), especially the QB, we will win comfortably. Hopefully we can jump on them, their offense isn't suited to come from behind. If it's close going in to the 4th, I don't love our chances. This is the only big 12 team I worry about outcoaching us in all 3 phases.
