Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

There will be an investigation in name only, this will be like the Senate trial with trump, the outcome has already been decided, the rest is just for show.

The sooner people realize that, the better off everyone will be. EIU does not want to piss off freerents, they have already got their scapegoat in Doyle, so it will end here. Look like you are looking into it, come up with some BS type of punishment that means nothing, and lets get past it all.

Before the EIU fans start ripping on me, I would expect ISU to do the exact same thing.

Leave your political BS out of this please. There are cellar threads if you want to spin stuff to politics or talk it in general. You could have said what you said without the bold part, but I think you already knew that

You are summarily dismissing an investigation being conducted by (i) an attorney with 15+ years’ experience conducting similar investigations, and (ii) a black attorney who worked for the Civil Rights Office of the US Department of Education for 6+ years.

It is incredibly insulting, demeaning and racist of you to question their integrity and impartiality.

Well this didn't age well

Lawyers are NOT investigators. They are defenders. Even if they are hired by a public entity as a prosecutor they DO NOT do investigations. The police, DCI, FBI, etc. do the investigations and hand the results to the prosecutor. Lawyers are defenders by training and profession , not trained licensed and experienced investigators.

Lawyers are hired by and paid by a client to defend the client's interests, period. (They can also be hired to advise a client, as was the case when ISU hired them for Title IX advice which is a proper lawyer-client relationship.)

Shady, unscrupulous clients will hire a lawyer to defend themselves and then call it an "independent investigation". That is a bold outright lie and a sham and the sham should be apparent to anyone with half a brain and at least a third grade education.

I don't know how I can point out the above any more simply and clearly for even the densest of persons to understand.

Addendum: The above has been stated repeatedly and very well by other posters. I tried to simplify it and summarize it so that the lowest common mental denominators (hoks) who are posting in this thread could understand it.

This investigation will be just like rhabdo. Rubber stamp that says we pretty much didn’t do anything wrong. Then sweep the whole thing under the rug.

The whole thing is a big conflict of interest. First off, that firm has a bunch of UI grads on staff. But more than that, it’s the whole paying someone to investigate yourself. I mean, what are they going to say? You did a bunch of bad stuff now give us our money? No, they are going to do just enough to make it look like they were thorough and appease the vocal outcriers. They’ll tell UI that they have a few things to work on and close the matter. It wouldn’t matter if KKKF was dropping N bombs every day in practice, nothing would come of it and no one is getting fired.

I'm an expert lip reader and this what I'm seeing CMC say-- "The current situation with the TOE is really sad. The treatment their players are describing in completely unacceptable. That's a toxic culture which is not something any student athlete should be exposed to. I can see why a black recruit, or any recruit for that matter, would be apprehensive about playing for the current TOE staff."

I don’t have an issue with them hiring someone to investigate this. In fact, I think it’s the right thing to do. If this was ISU, I’d want that as well. But I’d also want the school to do its own investigation at the same time. As far as I’m aware, Iowa is not, which screams to me “we are incompetent to handle something like this” The issue I have is they hired a firm with multiple U of I alumn on staff. Massive conflict of interest. That tells me they aren’t interesting in finding anything, just the appearance of trying

You literally are calling black people not credible and white people credible. If you're not racist you sure portrait it on here

That is par for the course for the typical Iowa fan, considering how many years they called ISU's black basketball players "thugs" and their white basketball players, "Doing it the right way!" Even if they play the transfer angle, they were including Uthoff under the #rightway umbrella.

Watching this meltdown within Iowa Fb, mostly on Twitter starting 3 weeks ago:

~ Some Iowa fans tweeting and rushing to be the *wokest*, sucking up to players
---after revering Chris Doyle for 20 straight years. lol

~ Some Iowa fans w/ snarky comments, in denial there was a problem

~ Some professing the U of Iowa will be a 'leader' in race relations
(sorry--that ship has SAILED)

~ A couple tweets bidding adieu to any potential transfers, and mentioning they can transfer to IOWA STATE .......as a destination

Memo to Iowa fans:

Keep Iowa State University football program OUT OF YOUR SH#T STORM on Twitter, Facebook, or in conversation. Your school owns this disaster

Just stfu

ISU most likely not perfect, but we're not a national embarrassment

The problem with UI is that they are the opposite of transparent. And that has been the issue all along. KKKF has his thumb on everything and the local media is too scared of him to ask questions. 13 players in the hospital with rhabdo? We'll do an internal investigation and "surprise", we did nothing wrong. Same thing is going to happen here, except they had to fork some money over to a friendly law firm to get their faux stamp of approval.

How many pages of the old “you said it happened in 2008 and it happened in 2009 therefore everything is invalidated!” defense of racism are we in to from hok troll?
