I think it would depend on the usage but I could see it working

Two very quick variations... it's not terrible but I don't love it, either. And of course I know what people think of that version of the tornado, but it was easy for me to use.

Orrnado R side helmet, No tn mods haha, original. Matching (color and size-wise roughly) I-State L side.

What do you guys think about Orrnado on one side, I-State on other? I like the way it looks. I don't think we'll get just the Orrnado (both sides) alternate, at least not right away. I think JP will want I-State on there. He might concede to half/half?

I like the updated Orrnado a lot. But, I do also like the same logo on both sides. I think we should alternated between the Orrnado and the I-State logos on the helmets. I also like the idea of smaller Orrnado's used as reward stickers on the helmets.

Roger that on the same logo both sides. I like the Orrnado on one side but it is a little different. I also thought it might be more probable we get the Orrnado (still a longshot I guess) if it had the I-State logo also. Atleast that was my thinking. Of course I would be more than happy to see it on both sides.

Here is what a gold Orrnado might look like on cardinal helmet. Not too good. It stands out like a sore thumb IMO. And I know our AD will not do a gold "I" in the I-State logo to match, at least with my idea of half/half logo on helmet. So I won't try to match it.

Instead of a solid gold Orrnado, a negative gold-outlined Orrnado looks better IMO.


I'll make a couple up tomorrow w Orrnado on both sides, try to tweak it a bit more.

I'm going to get a bit controversial here, and go against everything I've believed in up until now, and ask if we should just fully embrace the cardinal, gold, and black look?? I found this pic below of Dylan Soehner's signing day and have to say that I really do like his hat. Thoughts??

Who cares what Iowa fans think, right? A ton of schools across the country have added black to their uniform combos.

Current discussion is focused on the tornado logo, so this is off-topic a bit, based on this uniform combo -- I like having an option with white numerals, but I think the best use of that is with white helmet & pants, to blend the 3 pieces more effectively than we currently have.

I think this is the closest to perfect that I’ve seen. Adding a more unique pant stripe is the only thing I think could be fixed.

This pic below would disagree that if you have white numbers you need to have white in the helmet and pants in order to look good (although there is some white in the helmet). But I get what you're saying though.

I agree, it definitely can work as that sample shows. I think my focus in my post is where the white numeral might be "most essential" with the current combos we have, and especially C-C-W since we have no striping on the pants - always looks like practice pants.

I found this saved away in the pics on my phone. I’m not sure whose work it is but it looks good to me.
