Iowa Football Recruiting

2018 wasn’t close isu ran only a handful of plays in Iowa territory after their opening drive of the game. I can see why you would block that out.
The score was 6 to 3 until about 6 minutes left in the 4th where Iowa scored a TD. It was a stalemate almost the entire game.

It was a huge play, and it completely deflated Kinnick when it happened. It shifted momentum and was one of the biggest plays of the game.

I would say the only actual choke job in that game was when Iowa’s defense needed a stop in the 4th quarter and they let some guy with AJ Epenesa level speed break off a 20+ yard TD run. They had contained Wisconsin’s offense pretty well the whole game until that play.

The isu offense was completely stuffed after their opening drive. Iowa completely controlled the game by dominating isu’s OL.
I mean you're not wrong but I could counter that and said Iowa State's defense did a very good job on Iowa's offense which led to a defensive battle the entire game. Iowa scored a late TD to end it but don't act like that's a butt kicking.

That was an irrelevant score at the end. Wisconsin was just running out the clock and he broke one for a late TV that didn't matter as Wisconsin was already up 4 with 30 seconds left and the ball.

You could but unlike isu, Iowa was able to break off big plays because our OL wasn’t being dominated.

A double digit win is a butt kicking when one team only runs a couple of plays in the opponents end of the field after the opening drive of the game.

No different than then but kicking Michigan gave Iowa last year. While it was only a 7 point loss Iowa really never was in a position to win that game.

4 points in a football game is only 1 play you realize right? You make a tackle then Wisconsin kicks a FG and you have a chance to tie, that seems relevant.

Wisconsin wouldn't have needed to kick anything. Just run a 4th down play, and Iowa gets the ball back needing to go 70 yards and score a TD with 0 Timeouts and just about 20 seconds. I was there, that game was over with or without that TD.

There was one big play the entire game. A 30 yard fade route to Smith to set Iowa up in Iowa State territory to score. Iowa scored leaving 4 minutes remaining in the game. Iowa handled Iowa State that game and Iowa State did a good job on Iowa's offense too.

There is a huge difference between one team being down a ton of points and score a few times late to cut the game to 10, and one team being up three late in the 4th quarter and score to push the game to 10. One of those situations could be recognized as a butt kicking, but it's not the second of those situations.

I have a ton of issues with this, but it is a silly hypothetical anyway so it makes no sense diving deeper. Anything new in Iowa recruiting recently?

The QB recruit is going to Iowa City with his parents to check it out this weekend. Not a "visit" as he can't meet with coaches, but he wants to see the campus, etc. I think commits in the next couple weeks probably. So I think we will be done at QB soon.

RB is just Parks and that is a bit shakier with the distance and having never visited Iowa and now now visits until the end of July at least

OL is down to just Alt and Myslinski and Alt is a bit shakier with the new ND offer, and Myslinski is doubtful being from Florida with everything going on.

TE we are waiting on Fidone to do decide before we do anything else

WR done there if we get Bell (and I think we do). Right not it is Bell or nobody else at WR

Done at DL and LB

Outside Oladokun at DB (who I'm not sure if we get), I'm not sure what we get with the last couple spots there. I think we take 4 and we only have DeJean right now.

So outside of QB it looks like it might be a slow month. I think if his will be the slowest June we have ever seen throughout all off college football. Most kids who are willing to commit early already did and the rest will wait until officials in July.

A 6-3 game in the late 4th quarter isn't close? How?

I don't care how much Iowa dominated ISU's OL that game, that is still a close game that could have went either way. All it would have taken was a fumble or pick six or blocked punt and ISU wins that game.

There will not be officials in July.

I think all officials will be in season at this point. Coaches are going to want August to get their team ready for the season, not host prospects on official visits.
