Iowa Football Recruiting

This is true. Another way to look it it is one group is logging into to talk about their favorite team on here, where the other group is coming on here to talk about their favorite rival. One thing we should all come together on and appreciate is we love talking about the Hawkeyes.
CyTwins would have no reason to live it weren't for the Hawks. He has all the breaking Hawk news. I've claimed for a while now that his true genius just might be that he is a Hawk fan trolling Hawk fans. A "double agent" if you will. LOL

I don’t think the NCAA named UCF as a co-champ (nor should they have). This list shows every football championship that the NCAA recognizes, including the years they recognize multiple champions (like, for example, 1958, when LSU and Iowa were co-national champions). 2017 shows only Bama.

Yeah I guess the article that I was reading showed the NCAA record books and each year they give off champions, however they also recognize if there was a team that was voted #1 in a major poll. So, in 2017 UCF was listed as #1 in the "Colley Matrix" and therefore is listed underneath Alabama. If you go to page 115 you'll find that.

I talk about Iowa from time to time, but honestly talk about other teams just as much. When I say that, I mean I rarely ever bring Iowa up out of the blue.

I do like following Iowa though because they're a major sporting school in a major conference and because I like to have some sort of baseline knowledge if I ever get into an argument with a fan from Iowa or from another fan base that may be talking sh** about Iowa. I've ran into people who talk crap about both Iowa State and Iowa together and I've ran off lists of accomplishments by both teams to prove them wrong. All in all, Iowa State and Iowa fans are almost exact replicas of one another except they wear different colors and cheer for opposing teams.

Interesting. Looks like some advanced metrics thought the Hawks were the best team in the country in 1921, 1922, 1956 and 1960. I didn’t know that.

Very interesting. And yeah that's why I don't always agree with the NCAA. Take 2012 for instance. How in the hell do they recognize Notre Dame as a national champion, when they literally lost to Alabama in the national championship?

I think 100% of Iowa football players that never went to Oregon St. couldn't get on the field for Oregon St.???

This might be the most curious post I've ever seen here.
He knew he wouldn't be able to play until his SR. season at Oregon State. So he came to a place that he could get PT.

Hey, if we're using similar logic that's been brought up on this message board, Petras was more accurate of a QB than Stanley last year even though Petras only played in two games.

My understanding of that section of the link you provided is that the NCAA isn’t claiming those teams as national champions, just indicating which teams were #1 at the end of the season in various polls/metrics.

Iowa was ranked #1 by Sagarin in 1960. Somebody better put CyTwins on suicide watch.

Yeah that makes the most sense. They're recognizing polls that might've had different #1's besides the team that one the title game.

duh....Sagarin has only been good the last 10 years. Thats when he started using it. Not for rankings tho(unless it supports his claim) only for SOS.

Kinda like how Purdy would have just rode the bench at Bama for his career, so he went where there was guaranteed PT

Actually that year, Iowa went 8-1 and played 8 ranked opponents. What a time that was.

Also, Iowa's 1958 National Championship team was integrated and played a schedule full of other integrated schools. Whereas, LSU was segregated and only played other segregated schools. Not even sure how you could pick a national champion in those days. Guess that is why there are so many split national title teams that are recognized by the NCAA.

The debates that were had back in the day about who actually won titles and which team was better probably were a little bit different than today..
