Iowa Football Recruiting

Dude, Matt Campbell is not leaving Iowa State to go to Minnesota. Put it to rest. Matt Campbell turned down interest from the NFL as well as SEC and ACC jobs, he's not going to make a lateral move to go farther up north and try and recruit against Wisconsin and Iowa in the Big 10. Nor is he going to go to a fan base that cares far more about the professional team in their home town.
I don't think he would either. This was all about the Fleck argument. I truly do like Campbell much better than Fleck but you can't argue about what Fleck has accomplished. CyTwins says hes a bad coach and I disagree. Bad guy? That may be a different story.

But you think Minnesota could land a proven P5 HC if Fleck leaves?

Conference game I think CMC would easily win

Are there teams in the Big 12 that CMC refuses to call by name like he does with Iowa? It just doesn’t make sense that CMC would win against Iowa if it was a conference game yet he doesn’t treat anyone in the conference like he does Iowa.

I think Fleck and Campbell are fairly similar as far as how good of coaches they are. Being that I'm an Iowa State fan, I think Campbell is a better coach, but that opinion probably differs depending on who you ask and what team they affiliate with. We'll see how good Minnesota is this year and see if last year he caught lightning in a bottle.

I do think Matt Campbell has far better morals than Fleck though.

I don't disagree with anything you say there. I def prefer Campbell because of the morals. On paper Fleck has accomplished more for whatever reason. Luck? Schedule? whatever. If he puts together even a decent season this year he's probably gone. IMO he wants a high profile job like USC or along those lines.

Sometimes you have seasons where every little thing works out in your favor. Call it luck, call it being at the right place at the right time, whatever, it doesn't matter. The same thing basically happened with Baylor all of last year too. Fleck and Minnesota had a tremendous year last year, but we'll have to wait and see if he can replicate or at least come close to replicating it. And yeah, I don't see PJ sticking there for very long either.

Yes, especially since BF is now gaining more control of that program. He's totally worthless. Nepotism will destroy TOE.

I am perfectly fine with Iowa winning 10 games and isu winning 7 while we both keep our current staffs. I am also good with KF and staff putting so many players in the NFL and having better recruiting classes than isu. Do you think KF’s top 20 draft picks earning $840M has anything to do with where Iowa and isu have been ending up in the 247 Recruiitng Team Rankings?

How much have CMC’s top 20 draft picks earned in the NF?

And here we go again, comparing a 20 year veteran coach who started at a prolific school, to an 8 year combined coach who came into an absolute dumpster fire lol.

You really cannot look at recruits by the average score, as a way to rank them at this time, for example as of today Iowa is ranked 10th in the country with 14 recruits, ave. is 88.23 with a total score of 192.72. Oklahoma is ranked 26th, but with an ave. of 92.02 total score of 144.62, but they only have 7 commits so far this year.

Recruiting average is important when its all said and done, but not now. Its just something you are trying to use to bag on Iowa State.
When it all plays out, Iowa will finish around 20th and ISU will finish around 32nd.
Average score is the average composite score of all committed recruits. So it gives a good indicator of where teams are sitting compared to other teams. Not sure what point you’re trying to make.

ISU is more likely to end up 60th than they are 32nd. This is a bad class so far for CMC

ISU's 2019 class with two 4* RBs and an avg. rating of 85.33 came in at #46. How on earth do you figure this year's class with zero 4* kids and a current avg. of 84.01 coming in at #32?

I could see that too. Hard to lose 8 under classmen to the draft the last two years and not skip a beat for a school like Iowa.
That combined with you actually have to play a real schedule for once in your every three years and don't get to skip the best team in the league...but yes, losing good players to the draft hurts developmental programs like iowa
