Iowa Football Recruiting

Every single time I mention anything, you bring up Brock.. Got a little crush on him or something?

He seems like a good kid. He's also the QB and leader of your team, so whether there are or aren't fans in Kinnick, one of the toughest places to play in the country, would probably be most relevant in terms of how it does or doesn't impact him. No?

It’ll be interesting to see how many decommitments he has this year.

Results aside, he’s still a snake oil salesman to me. We’ll see how they do this year.

I agree with you, but his results speak for themself. He has been a lot better than I thought he would be.

For sure. Like I said he's better than Frost which isn't saying much but Campbell is a much better coach than Fleck
That remains to be seen I guess. I do agree that Campbell is a better fit for ISU. Fleck would be gone already.

There was an article by 247sports that as of May 18 2020: there are 770 commits for Div 1 schools. Last year, there were 341 commits.

I think the Hoks and ISU will be ok as far as keeping commitments solid. I have a feeling that schools like Minne, Baylor and Tennessee may have a tougher time.

That has been an issue with Fleck since he has been at Minnesota. Iowa has flipped 4 commits alone from Fleck since he has been with the Gophers.

Crazy bit of info - Iowa State is currently second to last in 247's average recruit rating of all P5 teams.

You really cannot look at recruits by the average score, as a way to rank them at this time, for example as of today Iowa is ranked 10th in the country with 14 recruits, ave. is 88.23 with a total score of 192.72. Oklahoma is ranked 26th, but with an ave. of 92.02 total score of 144.62, but they only have 7 commits so far this year.

Recruiting average is important when its all said and done, but not now. Its just something you are trying to use to bag on Iowa State.
When it all plays out, Iowa will finish around 20th and ISU will finish around 32nd.

My question wasn't just pertaining to Kinnick.. It was pertaining to every stadium that will not have fans for part of the year or possibly the entire year (let's hope not). I was honestly asking whether or not home field advantage would still exist if there were no fans in attendance.

I think we can all probably agree there isn't going to be that much of an advantage one way or another. No different than what basketball would be like if fans are not present. Cameron Indoor will be like a little high school gym without the Crazies there causing pandemonium.

I think Iowa will be about 35 and ISU will be about 50 when it is all said and done.

isu got a couple of recruits lately and still went from 21 to 29. Math must be new to you. Unless Iowa loses half their existing class isu and they all flip to isu, isu will be no where near 10 positions of Iowa.
We will see where it lands. I will trust CMC over anybody at TOE. We are getting what we want and taking the program to the next level.

Because you know, KF has shown to be a bad judge of talent over the years. LOL

It’s weird how offers and rankings don’t matter when it comes to Iowa State recruits, but when it comes to Iowa’s recruits, a lack of offers shows that a player really isn’t that good.
It's weird how you talk about how many other P5 schools offered ISU football recruits but never talk about the lack of P5 schools offered by Iowa basketball in those threads.

I think it's a common misperception that something like that would affect the team as a whole. Every player is different. Some eat up the negative energy coming at them during road games and ball out, others don't. I'm sure it'd be the same with empty stadiums, some players will thrive in that weird kind of setting while others might struggle and not be able to adjust to such a different game atmosphere.

After watching Purdy in Norman I think I know what kind of player he is

You think Fleck is a better coach than Campbell? Lol
I said "remains to be seen". But a top 10 finish and a win over Auburn in their bowl game. Plus he got WMU to the Cotton Bowl and a top 15 (AP) finish. That's no small accomplishment. Campbell doesn't have a resume like that. You can argue that he has a higher mountain to climb at ISU but Fleck accomplished more in the MAC than Campbell did as well.

Yeah that's very true! CFB will definitely be different and weird, but if it's played, I don't care if fans are in the stands or not.

What do you think Campbell would have done with that schedule last year? Lol cmon man

I sure hope they play as well but I wouldn't bet either way at this point. I'd say it's 50/50 at best.
