Iowa Football Recruiting

I want to make sure I have this right when you read what is in red you interpret that to mean I said ALL clone fans cry about SOS? Nope when I say clone fans I mean clone fans as in plural or more than one. Nowhere did I say all.

Nice try with the straw man argument though.
OMFG. You not only are unable to dissemble you are an outright liar. Carry on Corky.

Proven depth Iowa has to have a huge edge at offensive line. Along with QB, the largest disparities when comparing the teams. I think Iowa also has an edge and defensive line and WR. Iowa has more proven players than ISU. Defensive backfield is a push, Iowa returns a bunch of players who have played well. So does ISU. ISU gets the edge at RB, but not by much. Iowa has more proven depth. ISU at LB. Iowa at special teams with a big edge. Especially at place kicker and the return game.

Edit to add, ISU is more proven at TE, sohave the edge. I wouldn’t, at this second, trade the TE rooms. Iowa has a bunch of talent. Just my opinion.
What makes you think this? ISU returns a bunch of good players & experience on the DL.

I’ll give Iowa the edge at WR due to experience.

I won’t refute much else.

Iowa State was better team in 2017, special teams were just fine and we still lost. Motivation is a major factor in CFB
We'll have to agree to disagree on 2017. Motivation certainly can be a factor. Campbell will figure out the motivation thing and the importance of special teams eventually.

I can't tell if you're joking or being serious

By you're own comparison how does ISU not get the edge by a large margin here? We are returning our entire backfield of STARTERS while you are breaking in new players. While they have played, it was limited time and it's our starters afforded themselves EXTREMELY WELL. I also get you say you have more "proven" depth at RB, but just cause you have "proven" depth doesn't mean it is quality depth. I would say ISU depth at RB is unproven but of more quality.

Every projected Iowa started for 2020 has started in the past. Phil Parker gives iowa the advantage. What objective measure do you use to say ISU has more talent at RB, in depth. I will grant you the starter looks good, but you’ve basically got nothing else proven.

I will admit my DB pick is a bit of a homer call.

More than about any other position, the DL groups don’t lend themselves to objective comparisons. Two different systems with two different types of players.

Iowa State returns 3 All Conference secondary guys. Iowa returns zero. Lol stop it

I mostly agree with that, which is part of the reason I don’t see how iowa would have the advantage there.

As someone said, the more accurate measurement is by adversarial position group. The Iowa offensive line would have an advantage over the ISU defensive front. The Iowa defensive line should have an advantage over the ISU offensive front. Iowa should be able to run the ball vs ISU and I don’t think ISU can run against Iowa.

What I worry about is ISU throwing the ball all over the field against Iowa. Particularly to the backs and TEs

I agree. It literally means nothing to go position by position. Like most every game, if one side dominates the line of scrimmage they will be at a huge advantage. Clones have some very good players but I like Iowa's matchup on the line. Just a feeling I have is that this could be one of the better o-lines the Hawks have thrown out there in a while.

You guys had a better OL last year and couldn't run the ball on us

I don’t know if I agree with this at all. Iowa went 37 for 112 yards last year and 36 for 105 the year before that.

I’d argue that ISU’s DL will be better than either of those years and Iowa’s OL won’t be quite as strong as those years.

I also don’t think the Iowa front will be some juggernaut against the run, but tough to argue against as ISU’s OL will definitely a question mark for run blocking.
