All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

You said Stanley was immobile. It would be pretty damning if Purdy didn’t run faster than an immobile QB. For the record, I’m not sure that he could beat a 4.81 forty. It would certainly be close.

Purdy is the definition of mobile. You think Stanley was mobile?

Purdy is faster than Stanley.. Lol

I understand your reasoning, however I think you're putting way too much weight into Purdy's "late game" abilities and not enough into the rest of his abilities. NFL scouts probably aren't either considering some currently have him pegged as a top 15 pick in next year's draft. Even with all the "clutch" plays Stanley had in his career he ended up getting picked in the very late 7th round. Not saying where Stanley ended up is bad either, just saying scouts are obviously thinking Purdy is a better QB than Stanley, even though Stanley is a more prototypical NFL QB.

Either way, you have your opinion you're set on and isn't going to change from me trying to persuade you right now lol. Brock hopefully will have two more years to change your thoughts.

When did Stanley ever do anything clutch outside his game winner against Iowa State?

Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Stanley had a career -104 rushing yards with an NFL OL blocking for him. He is the definition of an immobile QB

Remember that some "experts" had Stanley pegged for 1st round last year as well. I never believed it but they did. I honestly think Purdy is a 2-4 rounder. Nothing wrong with that, just a guess. Once he enters the draft his game will get picked apart and any flaws will be brought up. Again, only time will tell. Maybe he continues to improve or maybe he has peaked.

For reference, in Stanley's career he has -104 rushing yards and 2 TD's in 3 seasons. Purdy has 557 rushing yards and 13 TD's in 2 seasons.

Yeah, but how many punting yards does Purdy have?

Yeah I think those saying he could be a first rounder are expecting another jump from Purdy production wise, which would be awesome no doubt, but very surprising. If he'd have another similar season to last year, I agree he'd be in that 2nd-4th round category.

Stanley was a good game manager type QB. He came up big a couple times. Mostly, he was the type of QB that kept you in the game and rarely made the big mistake that got you beat. Kirk Ferentz loves that type of QB and has won a lot of games that way. The only loss I can think of that I would put on Stanley was @ Penn St in 2018. Penn St gift wrapped that game for us and Stanley was horrible that day.

That's exactly how I'd put it too. The only loss I actually put on Purdy's shoulders so far is the Oklahoma State game last year. Even though our defense was like swiss cheese, Purdy got the yips that late 4th quarter.

Wisconsin in 2017 was way worse than Penn State in 2018. He had 7 games as a starter with a QB rating under 100. That's absolutely insane

no. Neither day was good but Stanley didn't have a chance that day in Madison. He missed open guys all day @penn St that day. Should have thrown 2 or 3 TDs.
