Iowa Football Recruiting

I agree with pretty much everything. In another post I mentioned I'd have to see a follow up season for both Fleck and Stoops before I entertain the idea of them as high as they were. Mark already came down from a really good 2018 season to a pretty good 2019. 2020, if played, will tell much more about them.

As far as Day is concerned, how hard is it to show up with a 4-5* loaded roster Meyers put together and run almost the same stuff to be successful? That goes for most bluebloods that aren't having to do a full rebuild.
When it comes to Day, that is exactly what I was thinking. His team is loaded with talent and coaches for probably one of the easiest teams in america to recruit to. Just show up in their living room and you are gonna get a ton of 4 star kids and 5 star. I just find it hard to judge the coaching ability of someone like Day with so many things working for them. As for Fleck and Stoops, I tend to start looking at their coaching ability at year 5. That's when the team would be made up of entirely their recruits. Regardless, interesting find you had there

He thinks Waggoner was a 4 star recruit everybody wanted. Seriously
Its massively well known that his offers dried up (either because they got pulled or other players took his spot) and pretty sure he had to like beg the staff to take him cause he was a life long fan. But of course he wouldn't believe that lol

I'll add it to the list. Llewellyn wanted to go to ISU, but they wouldn't take him as a DE.

Is there any Iowa commits ever that CMC didn't pull their offers from before they committed? Probably a shorter list if we do it this way.

Love it. Where do you buy your peach paper, assuming that's what you use?

I actually foiled it. I can get butcher paper for almost nothing since our company sells a ton of paper based products and we work with a lot of different paper vendors. Going to use that next round to compare. Saved around 6 hours though by separating the flat and point. Takes a little work to separate, but you can see it does turn out pretty darn good.

I've only done the flat, but you still get a lot of the good tender stuff at the end where the point is separated. I've only used butcher paper from the guys at Fairway, the non waxy coated stuff, but wasn't sure if there's a difference between that and the peach paper. Probably not, but the paper really starts falling apart on the underside when I pull it off and I never saw that happening with the peach paper in the vids I'd watch.

One that committed last week.

Here's how I see the SOS argument (and I believe that we can argee to this). The SOS metrics incorporate all the teams on your schedule, including Kansas and Rutgers. If either team loses to the bottom feeders of Kansas and Rutgers with the talent on these teams, the argument is mute The SOS really only matters with the "big boys" on your schedule and if it's home or away.

Plus, the SOS gets swayed playing each other, the winner's SOS gets lowered...

Here is how I rank the SOS for next year (excluding the CyHawk Game) Red for cyclones:

1. @tOSU
2. VS. OU
3. @PSU
4. @OSU (returning multiple Heisman hopefuls)
5. vs. Wiscy
6. @Minnesota
7. vs. Baylor
8. vs. KSU
9. @UT
10. vs. WVU @Purdon't is a wash

I'd say the Hoks are top heavy and Cyclones have a gauntlet.

I would move Minnesota way down the list. They aren't going to be good without those receivers they lost.

Didn't your DE opposite of Epenesa suck though? I know teams ran every play at him and I don't remember any DE besides Epenesa putting up numbers

Gholston would have led Iowa State in TFL in 2019 and would have been 2nd in 2018. I guess no one on Iowa State’s defense has “put up numbers” over the last two seasons then?

Easy to put up numbers against that weak competition. OOOO TFL against mighty NW. So impressive lol.

Rashod Bateman is projected by many as a 1st round pick.
We will see how he does without all the attention being paid to the other guy. I forgot, you can't say anything negative about King Fleck around Iowa fans. It's funny how much you guys worship him.

Every play was ran at him and you guys faced KC offenses. Congrats I guess?
