LaPorta does look like he has potential, I'll give him that, but he's nowhere near as good as Kolar, Allen, or Soehner right now.
And the verdict is still out on Easton Dean and Loving-Black, but I'd venture a guess that if either of those two played last year they would have had similar stats that LaPorta did.
pretty much the same as Hockenson. He turned out ok. I think the Hawkeye staff has some pretty good credibility with TE evaluation. What did LaPorta's offer list look like since he's a future star?
Kolar is definitely a stud. Jury is still out on the other 2 you mentioned. Serviceable is how I would describe them at this point. Kolar will play on Sundays and may even leave after next year. I would think he would be one of the first 5 TEs taken.LaPorta does look like he has potential, I'll give him that, but he's nowhere near as good as Kolar, Allen, or Soehner right now.

He would’ve been given the opportunity to play either.Would you have wanted him as a TE or DE?

Like I said. the same. At the time Hockenson was being recruited an ISU offer = Bowling Green.Hockenson had an Iowa State and Iowa offer. What about 15 catch LaPorta?

Why do you say LaPorta isn’t as good as Allen or Soehner? Neither Allen nor Soehner have proven that they are threats in the passing game. LaPorta put up better receiving stats than both of them despite playing in only 6 games.
I know Allen is supposed to have a reputation as a good blocker (I have no idea about Soehner), but LaPorta was already a pretty good blocker, especially for a true freshman.
He had an Iowa offer. That's all that really matters. Can't believe ISU missed him?Wait the future at the TE position at Iowa didn't have any P5 offers?!?
LaPorta played 12 games and his competition was Beyer. Lol stop it Benji
Even in the biggest attempt of a troll there is nothing similar about Iowa and ISU’s offenses.
Unlike you little brothers, we don’t compare our recruiting success on if we won a recruit agains the Iowa Hawkeyes. They staff finds kids they want then go after them. Obviously it’s nice to compete for the top 3 or 5 in your state on a yearly basis, but after that the talent in Iowa by in large has run dry
Who had better TE’s last year?? I think you know the answer so stop trying to reuse things or troll.
So according to you, because Iowa state offered at one time, that means that Iowa state really wanted them BUT if the situation is reversed then the Hawks never wanted them right? Got it
