Iowa Football Recruiting

He went 5-7 and 7-6 his first two years at Minnesota

And then a top 10 in year three. That is a nice start for him at Minnesota. Plus his recruiting is getting better every year whereas Campbell's momentum may have worn off some.

So yeah he doesn't have two top 25 finishes at Minnesota

Not when you get there because of your schedule no. Cmon they were not great lol

Good teams take care of business. You like to rail against easy schedules - the bottom line is that the Big 12 sucked outside of Baylor and Oklahoma. The best record outside of those two was 8-5. Last year gave ISU a window to rise up - and failed miserably. There isn’t a good excuse for not going 7-2 in conference last year especially with Campbell being in year four and having his best roster so far. That’s why you lost all recruiting momentum.

In all honesty, Frost and Fitzgerald are the same age but I'd be more concerned with Fitzy. Last year was brutal, but he's finished 2nd, 4th, 2nd, and 1st in the West in the last 5 years. Iowa played in the same bowl they did the previous year.
Even though I don't really like him, I have to respect the guy. He's right in the same group with Snyder, Ferentz, Chryst, Gary Patterson, and probably Campbell down the road - of coaches that have had success without the constant high level talent. I respect what they do much more than most coaches in blueblood programs.

Yikes.

I remember telling cytwins that Minnesota was going to be good last year before the year started with what they had at receiver...... It pays to do homework before predictions.

I believe that was more wins than CMC had his first 2 years.

And he had more in year three too. I hate to admit it, but Fleck has proven me wrong thus far. I hope last year was a just a flash in the pan, but with his recruiting it might not be.

Pretty weak for you. Calling a good team a good team isn't defending them. It's acknowledging what they did (helps we ruined their regular season).

Is KSU your rival?

What's your take on Iowa State this upcoming year?

Hard to predict with no spring ball for everyone. No spring ball really hurts programs like ISU and Iowa that depend on player development.

Gun to my head, I think they go 8-4 or 7-5.

Minnesota was good. They weren't great

Iowa and Iowa State each only have one rival and that's the in state one

Iowa has ISU, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska as rivals in football.

ISU has Iowa and KSU as rivals in football.

But you would never go to one of their boards and defend Iowa State. Kind of proves my point.

Iowa has one true rival

I agree with you. Those first four games were dicey for sure, but they won them and that is what counts. Iowa barely beat UNI in 2009 and that was a great team. Minnesota got better as the year went on evidence by beating PSU and Auburn.
They also got wrecked at home by Wisconsin late in the year.

They were a top 15-25 team. I don’t think they were top 10 good regardless of where they finished ranked.
