They must have saw potential in him as a backup linebacker and special teamer but he clearly wanted to play running back.
Obviously they still wanted him and would have taken a spot from another position group to get him

Sargent isn't better than anyone. My Iowa friends even say he sucks
Please tell me this is real. If you honestly believe this than you have proven you know absolutely nothing about football.
Was Maro hearing from all these programs before and they just now offered him? Or do you think Nebraska, Oregon, and UCLA started the recruiting process with him by offereing him out of the blue basically one of the first times they talk to him?
Brock has 9 career rush attempts against cupcake opponents. He averaged 2 ypc in 4 carries vs the only P5 team.
Sargent was the most productive back on the Jack Trice field in our 5th straight W over you.
Maybe you should have recruited Sargent.
Usually I wouldn’t think they would offer without a previous relationship, but this recruiting cycle is different than every other one. If you read his tweet about the Oregon offer it sure seems like that is his first contact with them. Nebraska I have to think he has had some previous contact with as Chinander does a pretty thorough job of canvassing the state.

I am curious as to how you define “most productive”. He had 4 more yards on 7 more carries than Nwangwu.

Sargent had 55 yards on 13 carries. Kene Nwangu, who doesn't play RB really at all anymore, had 54 yards on 6 carries.Brock has 9 career rush attempts against cupcake opponents. He averaged 2 ypc in 4 carries vs the only P5 team.

We don't know how good Brock is yet.. He was behind one of the best freshman running backs in all of CFB last year. He'll get a lot more playing time this year and will be able to show his skillset. If he lives up to even half the hype, he'll be better than Sargent but until then, there's literally not an argument.
Twedt did have his offer pulled. Is Tyler Maro on Iowa's radar?
Yep, Campbell’s no-visit policy kicked in and they pulled Twedt’s offer
Okay, so he had 80 all purpose yards.. I'm not calling him terrible or anything I just think you're acting like Sargent did unreal or something lol. Iowa State didn't even know who their running back was at the time and found they could throw for 5 yards much easier than running it.Now add receiving yards.

At the same time, Iowa State fans trying to claim Jirehl Brock is unreal need to pump the brakes as well. We have no clue how good Brock is at the moment.
I literally have no idea how your statement coincides with mine at all. LolIn other words, recruiting stars matter except when Campbell lands a bunch of low 3 stars.
The fact Iowa was willing to take a spot from another position group just to land Brock is pretty telling IMO. With that being said it doesn't take much to be better than Sargent. He's not good
