4-23-20 Big Board Update: Adding two names for Iowa State

Some of you aren't going to like this take but IMO CSP only swinging for the fences tells me that JP has given him a much longer leash than what our fan base thinks.

I read it exactly the opposite. If he felt safe he'd be taking some more sit outs and would be trying to bide his time with a team that's going to be extremely young.

I guess I don't see the whole "getting them on campus" thing for basketball. I can't imagine "mature trees" is real high on a transfers priority list. You look at some of the top basketball programs in the country-- Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State-- not exactly beautiful campuses.
I get that most kids don't care about that stuff but some times you have to sell Mom and Dad too. Showing them around Hilton, Sukup, meeting an advisor, etc all can't hurt.

They might as well swing for the fences.

Just picking up a first down when you're down seven with 0:30 left is not enough.

To continue mixing my sports metaphors.
Sounds good in theory!

But what if the true metaphor actually is we just got the ball down 7 with 90 seconds left, and we’re launching Hail Mary’s on every down?

Ames Iowa is not a glamorous place. The opinion of a flyover State like Iowa to a kid from anywhere else in the world, is based on every stereotype created about Iowans.

The reality is Ames is a decent town with far more than cornfields and livestock. Kids won’t ever find that out, if they never get to set foot on campus.

I used to live out on the east coast and I sh!t you not people out there still thought the Midwest was a giant prairie....

You can tell someone has never been to Durham or Lexington.

How I picture all of us CycloneFanatics during COVID transfer season...

GIF FactCheck: Coors Light is in fact superior to Busch Light. Don't @ me, bro.

Different Iowa State coaches have said it for years. Getting kids on campus for a visit is crucial at Iowa State.

That's how it was with my daughter. She had NO interest in going to ISU - too big, that's where dad went, etc etc. Then she did the visit, and was like "hey this is nice, and its not that big, and I could do this".

Now, she wasn't an athlete or anything.... :) But the campus matters!

This whole wait for better transfers is non-sense. Its not like other schools are going to fill up and not have room to take a kid. Thinking that because we have all this room makes us an attraction is unrealistic.

We are going to be battling for decent kids from here on out and need to start getting some warm bodies.

I don't get just need the "warm body" mindset. If the coach doesn't believe the player is a good option he won't play them. We saw that last year with Zion and Terrence being leaped for playing time by freshman.
If Prohm doesn't think a player will fit his system/vision it is better for both parties to not commit to one another. There are 800+ transfers on the market with more being added daily, I am not worries about running out of options.
