Iowa Football Recruiting

Pettway and Jones are in this years draft. Milton is still in school.
Lazard was snubbed. If you don't think he was, tell me why.
Lenz and Bundrage played a few years in the NFL. and they played with TRASH QBs.

What does that mean? Conspiracy?

My point stands, I'll take McNutt over all but Butler/Lazard.

Nick Easley is currently on an NFL roster so he's arguably right there with Lenz/Budrage.

Being draft eligible really means nothing.

Again I acknowledged that ISU has arguably better receivers in the past decade. Purdue arguably is better than both ISU and Iowa. Like ISU though that doesn't make them more than a mediocre team. Especially when your pride position amounts to 2 active NFL players.

Our pride position is WR?

The fact of the matter is we just have so much ground to make up with in-state kids, especially that play OL, DL or TE. Maybe even throw in LB. They just have such a great history of success at that position, especially with in-state kids.

I'm surprised that Iowa is doing this well with in state kids actually. CMC has had 4 years at ISU and he has done a great job there so far, so I figured he would pull a few more in state kids away from Iowa. Yet every one of the in state guys that Iowa has offered has either committed to Iowa, or is still undecided. Iowa has offered 10 in state kids, has 7 commits, and Brecht, Fidone, and Bollers (who we aren't going to get) are undecided.

Off the top of my head I'd say LB. NFL guys in Knott, Klein, George and Harvey. Bowen and Dobbins were on rosters/played this decade too.

All American in Joel Lanning and then a ton of All Conference guys

That appears better than WR but certainly leaves a lot to be desired.

Linebacker is probably 4th or 5th in our position group rankings and is better than this.

If we're going back to 2006 (e.g. Dobbins) then Iowa had Jewell, Kirksey, Hitchens, Angerer, Edds, Humpal, Greenway and Hodge. All but Humpal went in the first 4 rounds.

Niemann is still playing in the NFL as an UDFA and Anthony Nelson is playing linebacker in the NFL although I'd consider him DE for this exercise. James Morris and Edmond Miles also played multiple NFL seasons as UDFA.

This might come as a shock to you but Iowa State football sucked pre-CMC

Neither Pettway nor Jones is going to be drafted, and neither player is better than Smith-Marsette or Brandon Smith anyway.

You’re counting Josh Lenz and Quentin Bundrege? Then Iowa gets to count Tevaun Smith and Marvin McNutt (both of whom actually played in regular season NFL games) and Nick Easley.

The difference between Iowa and Iowa State at receiver over the last decade or so is that Iowa State had Lazard and Butler, who were both awesome college players with to be determined NFL futures. Outside of those two guys, the talent at receiver has been pretty much the same.

Jones is a better WR than anyone you've had since McNutt

Man, Rhoads was one hell of a talent developer and recruiter. Accounts for five of the guys you listed alone. Still can't believe you guys got rid of him.

Turning Lanning into an All American why you guys made fun of that move was impressive. Even you have to admit that
