All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

Agreed. I mean who knows something could happen and LaPorta could end up taking that spot but I just think there might be better positions for an Iowa guy to steal.

Just to be clear with where we're starting:

QB - Purdy
RB - Goodson
RB - Hall
WR - Smith-Marsette
WR - Milton
TE - Kolar
LT - Jackson
LG - Newell
C - Linderbomb
RG - Schott
RT - Cronk

DE - Bailey
DT - Nixon
DT - Uwa (?)
DE - Golston
LB - Rose
LB - Vance
LB - Colbert
SS - Eisworth
FS - Koerner
CB - Hankins
CB - Johnson/Young (?)

I'm not sure which ISU CB would be in there opposite Hankins. Also not sure if Uwa is the right call for the other DL spot over Bailey or Robinson.

A few other Iowa guys I could see breaking into this would be on the OL, Kall and Britt, and Dane Belton in the D backfield.

Yeah I have no idea how this list will end up looking by next year, but you putting in LaPorta and Petras on this list would mean you're assuming they'd be one of the best in the nation at their respective positions. If you believe that, then we'll just have to wait and see.

Not really, it just would mean they're having a better season than Purdy and Kolar.

I'd swap Downing for Newell on the OL.

We just call him Eni since that last name is hard on the DL

0% chance I start any Hawkeye LB above Rose, Vance and Hummel

Johnson over Young at CB

Downing is the best guard on either team.

The rest looks pretty reasonable.

Who is Robinson? I do think Zach Peterson is a stud at DE. Kids motor is incredible.

Colbert definitely over Hummel right now. Not close.

In a 3-3-5 defense for all-state i'd swap Nixon for DJ Johnson

and in a 4-2-5 I'll take out Hummel and add DJ Johnson

I just use the same position allocations as pretty much every All American and All Conference team... QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL.... DL, DL, DL, DL, LB, LB, LB, CB, CB, SS, FS.

I think thats a pretty good list.

No. That's why I have Purdy and Kolar in there. I'm saying those are two Iowa guys with loads of potential who I could see earning a spot if they step up and play huge.

I'm curious why Iowa fans would say an Oregon State kid would have loads of potential

Iowa State players who got All Conference recognition that you left off:

Chase Allen (justified with Kolar)
Trevor Downing
Anthony Johnson (not sure why you put an or there)
Tayvonn Kyle
Dylan Soehner (justified with Kolar).
Lawrence White

Leaving Downing and White off your list were your two worst ones

RT - TBD

DL - Bailey

LB - Colbert
S - Eisworth
S - White
CB - Hankins
CB - Johnson

Whoa

The Spun: What’s the one area of your game you’re trying to fix heading into the draft?

Nate Stanley: In college, my completion percentage was just under 60%. That’s something that I knew was going to be a question from people going into the combine and throughout this whole draft process. That’s something that I’ve taken steps to improve and continue to work on. I never really worked with a quarterback coach in high school or in college. Now I’m working with Tony Racioppi, who is based in New Jersey. He has really helped me develop and become more fundamentally sound in my lower-body mechanics. I feel like I’m a lot more consistent and accurate. So, just that accuracy is the biggest thing that I’ve continued to work on from the end of the season and that I’m going to continue to work on moving forward.

Good for him for getting the help he needed.
