It should be the federal government, but they're going to give money to corporations instead of the people that need it. Shocking.
Not going to shut down all non essential businesses yet because they're able to manage it so far.

Yup. All the medical experts have said this thing isn’t going to get any better without basically isolating everyone as much as possible. Why will no one listen to them?!
I sort of understand her position. But it seems like we will be headed to a complete shutdown soon enough. The sooner we do it, the sooner it is over.
Asking Iowans to stay home is not working. They have their heads in the sand if they think that’s actually happening. Especially with all the spring breakers coming back.

Trying to balance the short and long term economic impact with the number of deaths. Not saying the decision is right or wrong, just trying to explain the decisions.
I see we are doing our regularly scheduled thing in the non political coronavirus thread where people with zero relevant information act like they are in a position to judge these obviously difficult decisions being made with respect to people's livelihoods.

I just wonder why the state of Iowa can't afford to shut down all non-essential businesses, but Illinois can, among many other states.
California didn't wait until they couldn't manage it any longer, they were proactive. This governor wants to be reactive. That doesn't work in these situations.
Reynolds wanted to do the same thing with the schools initially. She didn't want to close a school down until they had a verified case at the school. She doesn't understand the science at all obviously on this matter.
Actual question: has any of Iowa's congressional reps said anything in the last two weeks? Not saying they should or shouldn't have, just legitimately wondering if our senators and representatives have commented on anything...
California is on their third escalation of their shutdown status. First, schools, then service economy businesses like sit down restaurants, now a broader closure of non essential businesses. How is that different from what has happened in Iowa? It isn't.
And that is in a state with a much more widespread problem than we have here, by at least an order of magnitude.
