This is why Prohm must go........

You're in a thread titled "this is why Prohm must go", seems like you should know what you're in for when you clicked on it. But props to level headed folks like you and Cat, fighting the good fight.

Oh I get the Prohm talk. I guess my comment was directed towards the Pollard side of things. There's no reason to bring him into this at this point.

God you have very low expectations. Just be somewhat competent and no success needed - in Year 6? Can’t agree with this.

Why do you think Iowa State is immune to having a season like this? Serious question. Look around the landscape of college basketball and explain to me why Iowa State can't have a season like what we experienced this year.

Texas Tech lost like 5 starters and plays 80% freshman and sophomores. And will make the tournament. So comparing them to us where we get last place or second to last place during a turnover year is probably not the best.

Sad to say but Texas Tech is what we should aspire to be. Or should they have no expectations either because historically they are a bad program?

What is interesting is the three teams that brought home any type of conference hardware last season (regular season, conference tourney) are the only three who have declined.
ISU went from 9-9 to 5-13....a four game drop
TTU went from 14-4 to 9-9.....a five game drop
KSU went from 14-4 to 3-15.....an 11 game drop

This is one of the worst teams in the history of the program. Iowa State isn’t immune to it but producing one of these seasons, but it is a fireable offense, or at least should make the seat scorching.

I could see Prohm being willing to take a pay cut to get out ahead of the posse. How much do MW and AAC Coaches make?

In the "modern era" (the modern era being arbitrarily defined as since 2008 because that is how far back the Bart Torvik data goes) --

If this team finishes the season #89, it would be #11 out of 13.

All-time? ISU basketball was really bad for a long time.

Here is the bottom of the list using Sports Reference and its SRS stats --

That data only starts in 1949-1950, however.

This year, as bad as it is, is still #33 on the list --

We were really bad there for a long time before Johnny Orr showed up. :(

I can’t agree with that’s what I said!

Think about it. Being competent and having no success don’t have a lot of overlap! That’s not what I suggested.

We can be competent with next year’s roster and still miss the tournament imo. Not a great situation to be in, but it would be a sign of improvement by the staff, and reason to not pull the plug on what should be good situation the following year.
