Fire all the coaches v 4.0

John Beilien and John Calipari were **** in the NBA. What does that have to do with them as college coaches? Do you think Prohm could ever coach successfully in the NBA?

Cal actually made the playoffs as the coach of the nets. But he took that job to run from the scandal at umass. Would not expect you to know that.

And beilein has paid a hell of a lot more dues as a coach, and cashed in on a hopeless job

And fred was a terrible nba coach, neither of the two you mentioned were ever rated as the worst coach in the nba, twice.

it’s still amazing how the guy tried so hard to leave, left the school in the lurch while he did, inherited a playoff team with a successful coach, and ended up that way.

Hopefully there is an option. Imo as bad as things are, there are still quality basketball coaches that would see it as a good opportunity for various reasons.

Go with old Wayne Morgan approach. Wait for the coach to combust and step right in.

that’s true. A good guy out currently out of coaching could see this as an opportunity.

I was 4 when Calipari left UMass and yes I knew why. Not sure how that is making any sort of a relevant point. Caliparis career at the Nets was regarded by everyone a total disaster and was well documented on his 30 for 30 episode. Much like Freds career at Chicago and also much like Beileins career at Cleveland. Also what coaching rating are you using?

Eh they had the players strike in 99. And he some injuries to start the year.

but he can say that in retrospect.

it was an espn insider poll. They rated based on what execs thought of coaches.

lol. You are back to making things up again.

There’s a big difference between being real about how fred left, and tried to leave two years before, and being rated as the worst coach in the Nba two consecutive years, and saying prohm is a better coach, because they’re both flawed. I think fred is the better coach most likely, but he was ******* in the nba. And Nebraska was the best job he could get to try to repair his image.

I happen to think Steve’s a decent guy. I hope he lands on his feet.

But I’d worry more about fred winning at Nebraska, since you want that so bad. Their record says they aren’t even close, and there’s no Royce sitting out this year.

Seriously, how crushed would you be if fred failed at Nebraska?

I’m not a Husker fan so I don’t care about how his tenure at NU goes...although I would be surprised even if he doesn’t have success. I’m fairly confident he could coach in-game circles around the guy we currently have.

Im much more concerned about why in Year 5 we only have 4 players on our roster (Halliburton, Young, Bolton & Jacobson) that should be logging any type of meaningful minutes for a Big 12 team.
We have zero identity. With CFH he recruited shooters. Everyone on the team was a threat to shoot the ball minus McKay. What is our identity? We aren’t a defensive team. We can’t space the floor when you play two bigs. We don’t have any length in the guard court anymore. Bolton, Nixon and Jackson are all small guards. I shouldn’t be wondering in Year 5 what we are trying to accomplish on either offense or defense.

You are going to have to pay a good coach over 3 million to come here. JP has never paid his head B-ball coach that number. When the reset button is hit we know that we are going the low-mid major route.

How much would Otz cost? Legit question, I know nothing about how much he's making at UNLV or coaches salaries.

Otz signed a 5 year contract with UNLV last year. Pays him 1.1 million and escalates by $100k every year. Craig Smith is getting paid $650k at Utah State.

ISU can top both quite easily. Is Otz still with the former ISU bball player (forgot her name).

What is Otz' buyout?

Is Jamie planning to fire the non basketball coach who is the Head coach of our program or planning to keep him for another year.

Have any of those top recruits decommitted yet, Prohm is not capable of coaching a young Jordan to success.

I think you're right about that, although that's what some people held against Prohm from the very start.

The last guy we hired from Utah State had a couple of pretty good seasons...

imagine hoping kids that chose to play for the school you support, decommit.

were you the one that said you wished that we would have never won the big 12 tournament last year?

Fred made the playoffs. I find it interesting that to put down Fred and play up the succces of other coaches you praise them for things Fred also accomplished while not mentioning that Fred accomplished the same things.

Who has Jamie ever employed as a basketball coach that he needed to exceed that number?

or, I guess more accurately, who has he employed as basketball coach that wanted to stay at Iowa State, and didn’t spend three off seasons trying to find new jobs?

Did Calipari inherit a playoff team? Or did the previous coach get fired for losing too?

You also defended calipari for having to deal with injuries. Fred dealt with injuries all the time as well. In fact Fred was up 2-0 gagainst the playoffs 1 seed before Rondo got injured.

They finally gave him a team that fit his style, then multiple people got injured and they let him go 1 game into markannen being back from injury.

Lol. That wasn’t why they let him go.

and cal had injuries to guys that actually impacted winning.

I didn't say that was why they let him go. So busy trying to argue with everyone you don't even read the posts anymore. Prohms a disaster and even Fred's worst year at ISU when he took over a dumpster fire from McDermott he went .500. Fred's worst year was still better than multiple Steve prohm seasons. And considering what each walked into that is a sad sad thing. Prohm was gifted a top 25 squad and in 5 years turned the program into the lowest it's been in over 40 years.

Fred has the best winning percentage in ISU history. I get that he is never coming back here and that some people feel personally attacked that he persued his dream to coach in the NBA.
