Doyle cost Epenesa millions

I can already see it now.... my Packers will take Epenesa in the 1st round, and he'll end up being a bust.

Congratulations on your first post.....Not the best or the wittiest, but everybody has a first time. Be sure to wash your hands and cough into the crook of your elbow.
Thanks! Would it have been better if I asked where the forum is to discuss all the ISU guys at the NFL combine?

In all seriousness though, I thought Lima and Pettway might have been invited. Maybe even a couple of OL. And maybe some were but didn’t go because not healthy? I would definitely think those 2 have a chance to be drafted. At least an invite to camps.

Ha...yeah. After the high second round, the drafting is highly political and good-ol-boy network anyway....a department we could improve on hopefully. Lima is certainly as game as some Michigan guy that will be picked in 4th round or get camp invites....but Michigan buddies are going to help Michigan buddies in the respective offices.
I keep hoping this combine thing disappears....it is a joke. Made for TV. Gamers are gamers and there is only what, 14 million minutes of tape on them by the time they are ready to be drafted. Lazard was slow....right? remember that? He is a freaking winner and a gamer though, and those who passed over him for some other prima donna or fast 40 runner are fools.

I agree. Blew my mind that Lazard was looked over. He’s farthest thing from a prima donna. Catches everything, heck of a blocker and guessing he’s a great person also. You’d think more teams would have wanted a guy like that. Hope he keeps proving people wrong

I think that Good-Jones is our guy most likely to be drafted. He has the tools to be an NFL tackle. I think he will test out well at pro day. Unless his off field issues cost him, which is very possible. But in the 6-7th rounds he is exactly the type you see teams take a shot on.

Packers won’t take him. They are wanting a Tackle first round and they have the Smiths that shore up the ends already. He doesn’t fit really well into their needs.

You mean today or when he was destroying the USC left tackle during the bowl game en route to being named defensive MVP?

He did, but without any doubt his performance in the Combine cost him millions. He went from being a top 10 draft choice to the middle/bottom part of the 1st round. He still could get lucky and someone draft him high, but he did not look like a top 10 pick at the combine.

Haha, pretty bold statement there. Others disagree. We'll find out in a few weeks.

I think he’s mid first round level talent, and that’s a damn good thing IMO.
Being the overall 16th best/most desired player is really, really good.

Not a bold statement at all, each spot he falls out of the top 10 costs him half a million or more in salary. Last draft number 10 was slotted at 18.9 million, number 15 14.5 million, number 20 12.6, number 32 10.1 million. The money drops off a lot after the first 10/11 picks and stabilized after 20. So going from 10 to 20 costs a player 6 million.

Lazard even ran well at the combine and didn't get drafted. Odd to say the least

Another thread that hasn't aged particularly well.
How hasn't it aged well? Granted the "mediocrity" title change is inaccurate, but the original title of Epenesa Regression is absolutely true. Dude was a top 5 pick at the start of the 2019 season and because of poor play has dropped to what I've seen as at best 17th pick? Maybe even late first rounder. That is a regression and lost himself LOADS of money.

Was he projected top 5? I think I saw top 10, don't remember seeing him projected top 5 anywhere. "Poor play?" The guy was first-team All-B1G and second-team All-American. So you're mocking him for falling from a possible top10 pick to a top15-20 pick? You must be pretty peeved at CMC's regression last season.

I think there are a lot of people here reading too much into the combine results.. They literally don't decide whether or not you'll be a good NFL player.

Plus who cares where he is drafted? The tread is still dumb as ****, as AJ didn't regress this year, as Gonzo said he was 1st team All Big10 and 2nd team All American.
