PJ Fleck legit?

In all fairness we have not beat anyone this year and we have lost to teams we should have clearly beat. Iowa for one. I love Campbell but he also has the same advantage that Fleck has in facilities. Campbell is loved, however our facilities have always sucked and so did Minnesota. So while both teams have improved, a lot of it has to do with Facilities. I always Wondered how good Danny Mac would have been at Iowa State had our facilities been even close to what we have now. The older I get the more I realize how great of a coach that guy actually was.

UMs new facilities are probably better but I think the bigger differences are that UM is in a metro that's bigger than the entire state of Iowa. UM doesn't even have another FCS team in the state let alone a P5 team. I wouldn't say UM is a sleeping giant, it is certainly a program with advantages few teams have with reasonable expectations.

Clearly the guy can coach, but let's see him beat a ranked team before we say he's as good as a guy that's taken down 5 ranked teams and 3 in the top 6.
 
I’ve really been skeptical of MN but they look good against a strong PSU team. Playing a lot like when ISU has had success the past few years. I’d love for Iowa to have a legit opponent in their division outside of just Wisconsin.

Anything can happen still - but right now they're steamrolling the #2 defense in the country.
 
Yes he's legit. He's recruited well and it's showing. Gophers have a good plan today. Hope they can finish.

Good coaches don’t lose the exact same way every time.

good coaches don’t take the ball first in overtime.

also, he never ever beat any of the good teams in the league when they were good.

good coaches don’t damn near 0 for twice after turning the program around. Nor do they leave a crater of a program after 12 years.

you’re really bad at sports thinking. You should stop.

not sure where people ever said he was not good.

Their schedule was an absolute joke though.

I just wish @tornadoman ever complimented our coach like he did fleck though

The conference was good, but the 2000 team didn't beat a ranked team. Only played 2 ranked teams and lost by 22 and 46. The next best team they played was A&M and lost by 23.
That was a good team but the schedule was favorable.

Our last 3 teams were better than that 2000 team. That 2000 team beat 3 win Iowa, 2 win Baylor, 3 win OSU, 3 win Missouri, 3 win Colorado, and 4 win Kansas. Any good team we played that year we got smoked by.

ISU finished 9-3 and won their bowl game. The Big 12 was much, much better then with Nebraska, Oklahoma, KSU, Texas & Texas A&M being very, very good and ISU finishing 9-3. ISU had 4 NFL draft picks and Jordan Carstens also signed a FA contract and had a nice cup of tea in the NFL too. I think some of you just have short memories are weren't around during that time period.

Nebraska was ranked #1 and finished 8th. (10-2)
Oklahoma won the national championship (12-2)
KSU finished 9th (11-3)

Your last 3? teams? The 2016 team went 3-9
