So I'm just curious, have you not learned yet that some of these programs do find under-the-radar guys that find different paths to success? It does happen you know. I listed those programs from his offer list and some having recent success, but yet I'm a hawk troll? I can tag a few cyclone friends I have on here that know my account name and verify how dumb you look. But nice try though.
Wayne took the job in the worst of circumstances. He kept a recruiting class together. They were fun to watch a lot of the time. He won some games, including Kansas, which should have been twice.
after what the program had been through the preceding 10 months, it was a big deal. Plus if we hadn’t gotten screwed at Kansas, it would have been an ncaa team.

At the time other than the elite 8 run that was a good run for an Iowa State team.
Probably has less to do with his actual coaching/recruiting than it does with him rolling blunts with Tasheed Carr and Shawn Taggart
I started following ISU sports religiously right around Wayne Morgan’s first year.. considering the era that followed those were good years for me. I do love that fans are so far removed from that dumpster fire that the NIT=failure though..
I have fond memories of the NIT run as well, honestly. NIT is pretty meh, and I was young, but even remember thinking it at the time. Nevertheless it was cool that they won a bunch of games and made it to Madison Square Garden (and lost to Rutgers...)
Call those schools mid tier if you want, one of them went to the Final 4 last season. Not disagreeing, just sayin.
Morgan was fun but probably not building a program for long-term success.
He just let them go out there and have fun playing street ball.
That can be enjoyable, but for every time somebody threw a pass between an opponent's legs, they threw the ball out of bounds on an in-bounds ten times.
Plus his luck in year 3 was absolutely awful starting with Taggart getting sick and losing all of the weight he'd put on.
The only reason I was glad to make the NIT final 4 was our New York players, Stinson and Blalock was from Mass but still in that area, got to play in Madison Square. Which is a big deal. Other than that it was just OK.
An NIT run is fun and just fine to get excited about when it happens but its not the kind of thing you go bragging about. So in other words, the NIT is like most of the girls I hooked up during my partying days.
Such a weird mush mash of eras on that team. Ask me if Jared, Jake and Curtis were on an ISU team together out of the blue and I’d probably say “No” first instinct.
