All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

Fants really struggled this year
Oh he's been awful.. He's having loads of trouble catching any pass with guys around him and I actually saw an interesting stat.. In college, Noah Fant had 13 drops and only 4 total contested catches in his career at Iowa.. That is not good at all.

Unfortunately both are currently playing at a level which makes it look like they shouldn't have been taken so high, let alone the first round.

Being honest no troll here, I think Hockenson was taken WAAAYYY to high. I'm not saying he isn't a skilled player, just if you look at the value added of a first round draft TE pick (which rarely happen to begin with), it isn't good and when they 'bust' (which the majority of them unfortunately do) the fans despise the team for such a pick. I just think there was way more athletic players/value added players on the board left at that time. Fant can catch the ball, but I was honestly surprised he still slipped into the first round given he isn't as strong of a blocker for a TE. But blocking can be taught, so maybe that is their plan

Regardless of how they turn out, it is still a huge feather in the cap to get two first round draft picks from two unheralded recruits that were both only on campus three years. But of course it would be great if they both turn out to be good NFL players too. I think Hock has a much better chance than Fant to do so BTW.

Also, Hock is on pace for about 45 catches and 5 TDs in his rookie year. I wouldn't call that bust material since he is only 22 years old. Dallas Clark only had 29 catches and 1 TD his rookie year.

Fant was a pretty good recruit IIRC. High 3 star with good offers

Hock having the stability of a QB will really help a lot there. I think he'll have a fine career.
Fant, I'd worry about. Denver has had a revolving QB door for a while.

I thought, and still do, that Hockenson was the FAR better TE prospect than Fant ever was. I would just be worried how his career will turn out playing on such a garbage team.

Let the fun begin
