My question would be this - why use Title IX for a name? While there are obvious positives to this, there are unintended consequences we live with today too. It is not a law without flaws:

* this is the reason we no longer have baseball at ISU or a men's gymnastic's team
* it hints that these women aren't necessarily the most qualified to do a podcast, but rather by rule to try and level the playing field, we have to balance things out so this is what we came up with to try and do that

Just seems like an unnecessary and not a very well thoughtout name for the podcast.

oh for ***** sake. I personally think FART is a stupid name for a podcast. But some people find it clever. I think using title 9 is just trying to be clever.

Or, Title IX proactively gives women opportunities they were often excluded from, and ust like college sports. sports media has often been a man's world as well.

Oh....there is no doubt it has...and does. I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. I'm just suggesting there has been negative consequences as well that have occurred (I failed to also mention what this has done to college wrestling programs across the country) , so maybe using a more neutral title might have been wiser.

You’re kinda of proving the point.

Using the term incorrectly (which seems to happen often) shuts down discussion that might actually lead to some mutual understanding of opposing positions. Instead of allowing yourself to be challenged with a different POV, you pull the “mansplaining” card to suggest that the other person’s (i.e…male) arguments aren’t valid simply based on their male chromosome. That is sexist.

Might there be valid “mansplaining” situations? Sure, but that has long been lost with the misuse of this term and thus why the negative connotations which IMO means it is time to leave this behind unless your point it to cause controversy.

In many of today’s discussions, mansplaining is an unhealthy and unhelpful crutch used by those that don’t want to have to defend their positions on merits. It is an intellectually lazy out meant to shut down discourse, rather than try and work through it.
