Because his father was a raging alcoholic so the drinking and driving incident for Matt at a young age took a toll on him.. It was a moment of self-reflection and honestly as a coach, Fred had to be careful how he handled the situation.

The University of Iowa has suspended part-time basketball player Cordell Pemsl after he was cited for an OWI. Preliminary indications are that Cordell was drugged by ISU fans, transported in his own car to Ames where he was forced to binge drink at numerous Iowa State University sponsored house parties. At the conclusion of those parties ending Cordell made the decision to drive his car from Ames back to Iowa City while he was still above the legal blood alcohol limit. The university of Iowa will work with Ames/Iowa State University Authorities in order to determine the steps that need to be taken against Iowa State University for their part in this crime.

"On or about September 20, 2019 a person who may or may not have been affiliated with a sport that Iowa at time competes in may have consumed a liquid substance that under certain jurisdictions may be illegal to drink and then operate a vehicle. It was in the backseat of his friend’s car. Cops are capable of seeing when a person is high and too impaired to drive.

I just drove from LA to Iowa with residue in the car I was driving and it wasn't mine. Funny thing I didn't know it was in there until I got home and unloaded the car.
