That could be true!He will still be a top 15 pick but he's 100% a pass rush specialist.

Oh, well I was wrong. I thought that was on another drive.Gotta make up call for that penalty they declined lol
This is really not a time that is one of them though. ISU had a ton of chances to win that game but did not do it.To be fair, there have been plenty moments in Iowa State athletics where the complaining of referees has been justified.
AJ's been pretty irrelevant in 2 out of 3 games. Several of us knew that he was going to struggle as an every down DE.
The call would've made the game different, but it wouldn't have determined the outcome for sure. We could've missed the field goal or even fumbled on the next play, who knows. Fact of the matter is we had a chance with more than a minute left and a timeout to go about 50 yards and we shot ourselves in the foot. It sucks but it happens a lot in sports. Only thing you can do is fix the things you can fix and move onto the next game! This is really not a time that is one of them though. ISU had a ton of chances to win that game but did not do it.

This is a laughably bad take. Every once in a while Epenesa bites on a read option and gets out of position, but for the most part he has been good against the run (even dating back to last year). As a full time player he is still generating pressure on the QB, it just hasn’t led to many sacks yet.

Who are you and what did you do to thinker?Agreed, ISU had a good game plan for AJE and the Iowa DL. The ISU coaching staff is a good one and Iowa was lucky to escape Ames with the win. I just think it was the schemes to not let AJE get any kind of momentum in the pass rush, Iowa not letting Purdy win with the RPO, ISU capitalizing on the 4-3 base, Iowa not rushing more than 4, ISU senior OL stepping up and playing a good game. The delays had a lot to do with everyone being off a little. the wet field played a factor. ISU had a bye week to prepare for Iowa and the coaching showed with thier game plan.
If you actually want to see a guy get flattened watch Anthony Johnson toss Wifs on his ass at about the 40 second mark.
LeBron James has been dunked on and rejected in his life, doesn't mean those people are better than him.Or you could watch Mekhi Sargent and Tyler Goodson truckstick Eisworth at 5:45 and 14:17.
The stats aren't there to support his preseason hype but he is still impacting the game. ISU schemed to try and neutralize him by running at him and double teaming him. That's impacting the game and not irrelevant at all. Miami (OH) and ISU both did a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly on a lot of their offensive plays. He's gone from being a situational player to literally playing every snap, which is a lot to ask of any defensive lineman. Iowa needs Gholston or one of the other d linemen to step up and take some of that attention away.AJ's been pretty irrelevant in 2 out of 3 games. I am sure that all these Iowa fans saying that the only reason this year’s game was close was because of their injuries aren’t the same fans that were talking about how ISU only moved the on their first drive last year when ISU’s QB missed the majority of the second half....probably totally different people.
I think the throw to Kolar was much tighter space with your LB flashing into space. I don't think that throw was that off.I'm still puzzled by that play. Iowa wasn't even close to him and he just threw it right to Koerner about 10 yards over the head of his intended target that was double teamed. Couple that with the over throw to Kolar in the back of the end zone and maybe he isn't as clutch as KF thinks he is.
If you want to know why they called the hold on that 3rd down play it is because they totally missed it on the 2nd down play at the 20:13 mark on Gholston. It was either a hold or illegal hands to the face and a no call. So the refs either missed that or made up for it on the next play.

Iowa State schemed by having Julian Good-Jones basically take AJE out of the game... I honestly felt like Iowa State ran their offense on Saturday opposed to worrying about 1 guy.
We never really double teamed Epenesa by any means, however I assume that we would've gotten to that point had he started killing us. We ran the same style of offense as we did against UNI (with more downfield shots), and did it pretty darn well.Iowa State schemed by having Julian Good-Jones basically take AJE out of the game... Both Iowa State and Miami did an excellent job taking care of AJE without having to do a lot of double teaming... Don't get me wrong, the dude is crazy talented but he doesn't have the same motor as an every down DE. I mean that seems to be pretty clear.
Ray Lima plays a completely different position...Iowa State used two guys on him frequently, whether it was keeping a RB in to help or sliding the RG over post-snap to help out, or just straight up double teaming with the LT and LG. According to CyTwins’s favorite site Pro Football Focus, Epenesa had 7 QB pressures against Iowa State, which on a per snap basis is right in line with what his pressure rate was last year. It’s pretty funny how you guys can go from defending Ray Lima’s lack of stats, to using Epenesa’s lack of stats against him. Your fanbase’s obsession with trying to belittle him is truly fascinating.
