It is still a Hawkeye State

The announcers mentioned how Nate's deep passes that he routinely misses are being noticed by NFL evaluators.
Brock's a sophomore, is a good QB, and should only get better.
I also think Nate's good but I'm still a little suprised at some of the "easier" passes he still misses after he's been at Iowa this long.

This I can agree with. You take the good and the bad with Stanley. He stills misses some throws that he should make, but he has improved in that regard over last year. He is also capable of making throws that not many other college QBs can make, like that dart between three defenders on 3rd and 22. I’ve been pretty happy with the progression we’ve seen out of Stanley so far this year.

That 3rd and 22 throw was a thing of beauty, no doubt, but it wouldn't change my mind if I were an NFL scout about all his very inaccurate throws. Stanley would have had about 3 picks last night if he were playing against an NFL level defense.

Not to mention, he would have never gotten that 3rd and 22 throw off if not for the blatant hold.

I think any back and forth about the QBs last night is pretty worthless.
Both made a few mistakes but both did look good overall.

That’s maybe the most even matchup any of us have ever seen in the series? Which is good news for fans of both teams. It was a nail biting game. Every game is going to have mistakes but all in all it was somewhat clean.

Iowa played a nearly flawless clean game, and ISU went up and down the field but couldn't stop tripping over their own foot all night..... which led to a 1 pt Iowa win. So be it.

If we can eliminate the stupid mistakes and play as clean as Iowa, our ceiling is very high IMO.

So it wasn't "crunch time" when Stanley threw a ball he never should have thrown into double coverage in the endzone that was deflected and landed right in the hands of an ISU defender, but he just flat out dropped it? That was his senior leadership? Got it.

Purdy never did that all night. Yes, he fumbled, but I don't remember ever thinking he threw a ball he never should have. Stanley was doing that most of the night.

Purdy had at least 3 balls that could have/should have been picked.

He just threw the ball up to the far side of the field after getting pressured in the first half that Stone was the closest guy to.

He threw a pass that Koerner should have picked on 3rd down right before Ragaini returned the punt deep into ISU territory to set up the go ahead TD.

His last pass of the game is a pick in any other situation.

Whatever. I'd take Purdy over Stanley any day. You can have Stanley. Stanley did not win the game for Iowa.... far from it.

Was there something with Stanley and fumbles last year?

That will come back around.

Iowa didn’t play a nearly flawless, clean game. Far from it. They had two blown coverages that led to Iowa State’s only points of the game. They kept running the ball out of heavy sets on 3rd and 1 when everyone in the world other than the Iowa coaching staff knew that wouldn’t work. They effed up the clock management at the end of the first half, forcing them to settle for a FG instead of trying for a TD. Stanley had a couple misses to open receivers on what would have been big plays. Iowa’s defenders missed several of Purdy’s throws that should have been intercepted. Etc.

@BLHawk knows what’s been posted here for years while never posting and has been complimentary of Purdy on other boards.
It’s funny that he thinks anyone would buy that.

Gotcha. I blocked him when he said he blocked a couple other people because they hurt his feelings or something. Thin skinned is a dumb look so I did it right back.

Again, I never said I've been complimentary of Purdy on other boards.

Tough weekend for you and I certainly get it but this is really weak....even for you.

How was it a tough weekend again? I’ve been pretty fair and open about how I think the game went.

It’s been a rough few years for you here, I get it.
