Historical opportunity with no downsides

Haven't watched Iowa much but their scores would indicate they at least have some identity and ISU looked like they were testing things out vs. UNI.

Not a defining moment for ISU in a win or a loss but getting dominated would be pretty stupid. A win would be fun but Hokdom will be back to their canned stupidity they've been spewing the last twenty years.

Might have been more defining if it were also the feature ABC night game but it's not.

I'm not sure they learned much yesterday. Rutgers OL and QB were really bad. Iowa's secondary will have a much tougher test against ISU.

The goal of getting to the title game stands by itself and is not really impacted by losing to Iowa. In other words, if there is a time to swing for the fences, this game provides it. If cmc decides to grind it out and achieves a loss imo is opportunity lost for isu.

Well with that logic, swing for the fences every game and no game has an impact on the rest of the season. So this game is still no different than any other game.

Wish it was any other normal conference game instead of this one.
Gonna be a lot of disappointed fans when CMC plays conservative and simple and we lose a close game because of it. I don't like it, but I've seen nothing to indicate he will do anything other than that.
Historic? It will be a historic forum beat down for years from Iowa fans if we lose....

We could beat down ToE by 40 and it won't change hok fan. Probably a bunch of handle changes but same tired drivel, 24x 7

False. A decisive Cyclone victory would change everything for fans and it would be glorious.

Sorry, grew up around and lived in the middle of hok fans for 50+ years. Nothing, absolutely nothing, will deter their arrogance. If you are lucky, they would be quiet for 24 hours.

Flag the post - if we win Saturday, within 1 hour their posts will be about the last 30 years and what about basketball and womens basketball and wrestling and the baseball team.

On one level I agree the conference games are more important. But you also can't keep losing to Iowa EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR and not expect some backlash. I think many fans expect to win some years against the in-state rival if the coaches are truly raising this team to higher levels.

A close win (like every one since 2005) would change nothing. An ass whooping would be transformative.

I've watched Iowa, but the two teams they've played would get stomped by UNI. who knows how good they really are?

The fact is, CMC cares more about the Kansas game than he does about the Iowa game.

We can argue all we want to about if that's how he should look at it, but it doesn't matter because that's what he believes. He hasn't been around this game or this state long enough to care about it personally like all of us have.

He will always place more importance on a conference game than this one.

This game is important because we are building momentum for our conference opener on the road against a decent Baylor team. Campbell also is 0-3 vs Iowa, and they have won the past 4, we need to stop that streak.
Its a home game, with Gameday here for the first time, we have a chance to show the entire football world that we are improved and getting better. That we are no longer the same ol Iowa State.
Football you play one game at a time, more than any other sport, but win this game, we get back into the rankings, and move on from there.

The only benefit of winning this is it means we are 2-0. Nothing more.
Agree here. Don't get me wrong, beating the roaches feels great. Any non con win feels great. But nothing compares to being a contender in November. And I wouldn't trade that for anything in September.
