NFL: ***OFFICIAL WEEK ONE THREAD***

Hard to imagine there was no tampering

I mean, absolutely there was, to be signed by probably the best team in the league hours after he's "forced" his current team to release him. But good luck proving it.

What I hate is this is going to set a precedent for all players who want out of their teams because better teams are talking to them behind the scenes.

Sounds like a bunch of butthurt fans. There were 30 other teams that were following this closely. They all could have made a move to sign AB.
Since the Patriots have such a clean reputation

AB & Rosenhaus weren’t going to take calls from non-playoff or brand-name franchises. This is a genius move from a player perspective but owners are definitely looking at this going into the next CBA. There was a lot of momentum for guaranteeing contracts for non-QBs, but this is going to ruin the players case.

I hate them but the Pats are smart. Best case AB balls out for them on a one year deal and helps them win a Super Bowl before moving on. Worst case he self destructs and they just cut him and it costs them nothing. It's all reward and no risk for them, simply because of their team culture and success. I'll say it again - sometimes I hate this stupid league.

I want to know how they still had $15M in cap space available. Crazy.

Gronk is totally going to come out of retirement by November too.

Eh. Some teams have more cap space than others. Plenty of teams would have had the financial wherewithal to sign AB. But not many have the culture or history the Pats have.

I don't think Gronk is coming back.

The drama and crap like this is what turns

Didn't Brady take some sort of 'pay cut' to make more room?
