Yep, the DB coach that helped turn an unheralded recruit into a Jim Thorpe award winner and NFL player.

This really isn't about Iowa recruiting but is still pretty interesting. All time ratings for Iowa State football players on 247 shows 16 of the top 30 recruits coming from Matt Campbell.
And some of the guys considering Iowa State right now would be some of the highest recruits all time as well. Very impressive indeed.Even more impressive because of the history of the program, is the fact that Prohm has brought in 9 of the top 25 highest recruits so far.

Additionally, if you go to 247 and look at the top 10 state of Iowa recruiting over the past 4 years (including the upcoming 2020 class), Iowa has recruited 17 while Iowa State has recruited 13. So yes, Iowa still has the lead in recruiting Iowa kids, but it has become a closer thing than before Campbell came to town. This really isn't about Iowa recruiting but is still pretty interesting. When you say DB, I instantly think of snot nose little Brian F.Yep, the DB coach that helped turn an unheralded recruit into a Jim Thorpe award winner and NFL player.

For the last 4 years, the top 5 has 3 Iowa guys and two Iowa State guys.I wonder what the top 5 looks like?

So when I made my post, I made it about the all-time rated recruits in Iowa State history. Thought you two were talking about the top 5 recruits in the last 4 years. If you were talking about instate recruits I would believe Iowa would take the cake in that. My bad.Huh???
The last four years Iowa has gotten 11 top five in state recruits compared to ISU's 4. I think that really tells the story.

I mean I don't know why we're arguing here. Iowa obviously should be better at in-state recruiting because they've been the more successful program. Iowa State is starting to become nationally recognized and more succesful, yes, but the in-state recruiting is not going to change overnight. I would say a lot of these kids grew up liking Iowa football, but if Iowa State can keep doing what they're doing, it will become a little more even. That is not really looking at the complete picture.
Of those 13 ISU commits, Iowa only offered 3 (Downing, Newell, Petersen) of them.
Iowa only gave 16 schollies to instate kids during those 4 years as Blair Brooks was a walk on. Of the 16 Iowa commits, ISU offered 11 of them.
