Disintegration
I can't believe it's been 30 years since this album came out--and I would say the last great Stones album. This is one of my favorite of their "slow" songs (which are almost always Keith Richards songs).
The last time I saw the band was in 1989--in Ames. It was a great show. The first song was Start Me Up. We stood--and remained standing the rest of the show--along with everyone else.
In the video for Mixed Emotions, I'm seeing (I think) another guitar player who is not Richards, Wood, Wyman, or Jagger. Anyone know who this is? Wikipedia doesn't list anyone else.
I don't think I saw this posted yet. I didn't own the album, but the big hits were inescapable at the time.

“Cosmic Thing”

Instead of starting with the obvious, here's the first track from the LP released as a single. It got traction w/ college radio and Billboard Modern Rock chart, but wasn't a major hit otherwise.
And then, there was this. I'm sure you've encountered it.
And ...
I'll fall on the sword for this one. Not a fan of this group but their songs were all over the radio.
I guess I should say someone's songs were all over the radio as Rob and Fab couldn't sing.

Girl You Know It's True
As an added bonus:
I got hired at the music store I worked at for six years in 1989 and Cosmic Thing was on the in-store playlist. We played that thing a TON. "Channel Z." was always a favorite track.
This was released 30 years ago? One of my favorites of all time even though Free Fallin' was horribly overplayed. This makes me feel old.tom petty full moon river
We had a Cure album in the 1979 thread, too (the debut LP). Did anyone notice other artists that have appeared in both?
So we have at least 3 repeat appearances for 79 and 89.
It's possible there are other overlaps I missed.
