Cy Hawk Rivalry

Half right, we do not want to lose to Iowa, but its not anywhere near our biggest game of the year. First its a nonconference game, so losing it does not bother us conference wise. Its only important for bragging rights within the state, and the ability to talk crap to friends of the other fan base. OU and Texas are bigger games, and I would take a win over either of them and a loss to Iowa any day.[/QUOTE

The last 2 seasons we have "Lost" this game but somehow we were fine. I would rather win, but it is not the end of the world. The conference games are what really matter. I would prefer to have this game later in the year. We seem to improve as the year goes on where Iowa seems to spend the entire offseason working on their "Super Bowl". They tend to get progressively worse as the season evolves and it is not from playing better competition. Their division is fairly weak when compared to any conference in the country...including non Power 5.

I think he’s related to dan McCarney somehow. He likes bad coaches, and playing little brother.

2005 might've been the peak of Iowa arrogance. Granted, they were coming off a very nice run from 2002-2004, but their fans were ready for a national title run that year. Maybe the most satisfying win over Iowa in my lifetime.

A yes 2005. The the year Mac turned a 10 win team into a 7 win team all by himself.

As an Iowa fan, I feel like comparing how the two programs decide discipline might not be in our best interest on here...

Yeah...I think they were down comparatively for a few years after that run.

It's still strong though...I distinctly remember when I had FB and someone on there posting about how Iowa clearly had more talent than Oklahoma...I think in 2011 (?) after their bowl game in which OU basically just kind of made sure to get the win comfortably. It's just really weird how they don't see the difference.

Well Jesus Christ, they got every break they could get during their run, culminating with that ridiculous touchdown against LSU. when the horseshoe dislodged, and they didn’t get every fluke play to go their way, they were a 7 win team playing a mediocre schedule

It would be zero games under CMC.
Remember when your strength coach hospitalized a bunch of guys and got an award for it?

Their 5-4 Big 10 record last season was an aberration

You can't get any closer than that being to the percentage point what the typical season is for Kirk.

I’m sure it’s because that division was such *******, their predictions of Iowa dominance looked even stupider than usual.

Having Iowa on the schedule is a big reason ISU's SOS is rated high. Sagarin uses Sagarin's team rankings to determine Sagarin's SOS rankings. Iowa finished last season ranked #10 in Sagarin. While Iowa's SOS ranking last year was still in the top 30% of FBS teams, it would've been higher if ISU would've finished ranked higher than #37.

So, you're welcome.

This is dumb even for this schtick. You should feel bad

You do realize he’s using this game to praise mac, and criticize Campbell, right?

I still love McCarney. That doesn't mean I'm not excited for Campbell, because I don't think he's reached his heights at ISU yet.

Anyone who's looked at Campbell's body of work over the past two years and still thinks the Iowa game is the end-all-be-all of our season is a ******* moron.

I miss beating Iowa.

Did you miss winning the coin toss in ot and going on offense first?

Did you miss all those come from ahead losses because of his terrible sideline coaching?

Did you miss leaving a program with less talent in it than when he took over because he stopped recruiting thinking his buddy Alvarez would give him the Wisconsin job?
