2019 ISU vs EIU - 3pm kick off time

I do agree that last year is an anomaly, but think the point of moving it to an earlier time slot would be to leave the options open to push it to a later time, if your scenario plays out of morning thunderstorms. But having it start later limits the options.

Good point. It gives us more options. However, I don't want to schedule football games based on extreme weather anomalies.

UNI has had 4:00 kicks for pushing 20 years now. Its perfect. Plenty of time to tailgate yet can still get home at a decent time and catch the 2nd half of the prime time games. Plus out of town folks getting home at 10:00 is way better than 2:00.

We're also less constrained by TV (usually only 4 or 5 dates per year) so that helps with consistency too.

I'm sure that's really nice for the dozens of fans that make the trek.

We, as I'm sure others have plans with family on the holiday weekend and a Saturday night game sort of is a pain in the A for such plans. We go, but it is an inconvenience, loved the Thursday night games which should be in the rotation every few years.

Please no.
Thursday night games pretty much leave out us people who have to drive more than 4-5 hours. I would either need to take 2 vacay days and probably miss all the tailgating.

TBH, I've never really understood the obsession of playing an FCS squad at 7 o'clock at night. Late afternoon/early evening is a really good time for it as there are still a lot of youth sports happening.

As hot as most of the home openers are I have zero issues with the 7:00 kick.

I honestly think the heat is the biggest factor in the 7pm scheduling of the opener.

I mean, the entire southern United States plays that day, too.
I don't prefer 7pm either, just my guess on a major factor for the scheduled time. And imo the season shouldn't start in late August. I would hate to have to play a home opener in Houston or Tallahassee in late August with the sun beating down...

I suppose heat may be a consideration on that opening day kick. It was like 105 in the stadium for OU last year, right? And that was late September.

That OU game was an outlier. Hot temps for the home opener are pretty much a given.

That OU game was probably the most unpleasant weather I've sat in at Jack Trice. It was impossible to cool down and it was so humid. And I was at the Tornado game and the -30 degree game vs KU!

Is this real?

Yes, it's real. Not sure why my statement qualified for the typical, tiresome, one-note cydkar snark. I qualified it with "as an out of state fan", meaning I'm not going to be there. It's a holiday weekend. I have plenty of options that Saturday, but my loyalty to ISU keeps me at home waiting to watch a ****** broadcast against a ****** opponent. If the game is at 5 CT, I get to have my cake and eat it too.
