.

He's our former coach, the Mayor of Ames, has his jersey hanging in the rafters, etc. I hate that he's going to Nebraska but I'd much rather have Prohm in Ames

Noted. I feel you would be in the minority though.

Dang, that is a pretty good endorsement. I just figured most ISU fans would much rather have Hoiberg than Prohm.

Many ISU fans would rather have any coach that's not the current coach if any losses happen.

Kind of similar to the backup QB thing.

But yeah memories are quite rosy for Fred's inconsistent teams.

Been a rough week for Cyclone fans.

1) ISU gets bounced in the first round.
2) Iowa wins a first round game.
3) Prohm signs an extension
4) Lard transfers
5) ISU women get bounced in the second round
6) Iowa women are still playing in the elite 8 round
7) Hoiberg is a Husker
8) THT announces for the draft.

That would be a bad sports week for any fanbase.
First off, how long do you think a week is?
And you are bring Iowa women basketball into this? How much Iowa women's basketball have you ever watched or commented on?

Fred is going to have to compete with transfers being normal now and the hate recruiting stigma.

I think everyone that's an ISU fan appreciates what Fred has done but that doesn't mean the majority want him back as head coach. He's a good guy that moved on, that's OK.
Prohm was rumored to be in the mix at a couple other power jobs, that's a good thing that we retained him.

Dude... Hawk fans STILL talk about Alford. Granted it's for other reasons, you hated him while we loved Fred, but the fact is people discuss former coaches.

I just feel that most ISU fans would rather have Hoiberg than Prohm.

I guess the main question is who would you rather have? Four years of Wieskamp or one year of THT. I would take the extra three years of Wieskamp in a heartbeat.

I would rather have had 4 years of THT; however, that isn't going to happen. Answering your questions leaves out one important question: "Who will the Clones use that scholarship on the next three years?" Until I know the answer to that it is likely premature to answer your question. If THT is successful in his bid for a 1st round draft pick, think that has to help ISU long term in the recruiting front. Having said all that, I miss the days of watching stars (Barry Stevens, Jeff Hornacek, Jeff Grayer, Fred Hoiberg, Melvin Ejim, Georges Niang, Monte Morris...just to name a few) stick around and develop over four years, so I get your Weiskamp point of view.

0/3. That Iowa State roster is looking a little rough next season. Prohm is going to have to hit the transfer market pretty hard.

A good transfer or two would be the only way they could make the dance next year. Looking NIT bound at the moment.

ISU needs a transfer guard. No doubt.

Cook loss seems huge for UI.

Without Cook Iowa might have the least athletic P5 team in the country. Hopefully Wieskamp can take a big step this offseason and become more of a creator offensively.

Connor plays 2 sports and gets 20 minutes a game. He's got to be athletic.
