I guess Iowa's collapse will start in March this year...

16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals wins a weekly award in the Big Ten in conference play? Yikes!
Must've been a slow week, like it's been here in Sunnyvale! Btw, love THT's incredibly efficient effort scoring 11 points on 5/13 shooting last game. 2 TO and 0 assists. Very tough scene.

When you stand there like a statue holding the ball while there is still time on the clock, guys are going to come and try to take it from you. The coach's son is the one who reacted like a punk to it.

Uh, no. As has already been pointed out, there were only a couple seconds left in a blowout. Anyone trying to steal the ball in that situation is a jagoff. Connor also literally didn’t do anything in response to it, so the fact that you somehow believe he was the one who “reacted like a punk” shows how delusional you are.

He got a technical before that happened so maybe that's what he meant by acting like a punk

How can anyone say the bottom of the Big is better than the Big XII's without looking like a complete buffoon? Illinois went 4-7 in the non-con. At the top their co-league leader went 7-4 including losses to a bad Notre Dame squad and a lower level Big XII team. I think the Big XII/Big head to head was even. That included losses by 2 of their top 3 teams. These Hawks sound as brain dead as the legendary voice of the Big X Dan Dakich. I have never heard an announcer be wrong about a game so many times as Dakich last night.

So all that matters is non-conference play? In that case, how could anyone argue that Iowa State is better than Iowa? Iowa destroyed them head to head, and you clearly are of the opinion that teams are incapable of improving as the season moves along.

The Big Ten’s best teams >> Big XII’s best teams

The Big Ten’s worst teams >> Big XII’s worst teams

Therefore, the Big Ten is a better conference top to bottom than the Big XII.

So the Big Ten is better top to bottom but the Big 12 is better overall because of the middle? Got it

I think both conferences are pretty similar this year. Not many easy wins, but neither has a national title contender.

So if the clock doesn't even start and Woodbury holds down opponents arms is he a jagoff?

YOu are kidding right? Rutgers says hello. on the low end.

And as far as ken pom is concerned his ranking system has always been heavily skewed to make big 10 teams look good and most importantly it discounts important things like . . . YOu know actually winning a game. Take a team like the chokeyes for example. They look really good in ken pom in the past, because they would choke late and look real efficient losing in clutch time. but they only lost by one to the okay teams and blow out complete double stuffed cupcakes. so they would get this world beater rep, until it mattered in big games.

Cofffee is still for closers, ken pom is great for guessing how many each team might score in a vaccuum, but it isn't that great at picking winners and losers. So you are hanging your hat on the one ranking system least designed to pick winners.

This "who is better -- Wieskamp or THT?" argument reminds me of all the fun posts about the Gessell-Morris match up being a wash and Uthoff will be a higher draft pick and a better pro prospect than Niang.

Iowa fans. Gotta love them

In this case at least it's an actual comparison. I will agree with other people that THT has a higher upside, and he's definitely better a certain areas of the game than Weiskamp, Weiskamp is a really good player as well. I think he'll be an all-timer for the Hawks.

Kenpom agrees that the Big Ten is the best conference top to bottom. If you disagree, I would be curious to hear what conferences y’all think are better.

Sagarin has the Big 12 as better.

My point isn't to make an argument about that. Both conferences are very tough and any difference in the two is basically microscopic. There are basically three conferences that matter this year - The Big 10, the Big 12, and the ACC. After that it's just a smattering from other leagues.
