Why is Conditt not getting more minutes?

Talley seems pretty engaged. He might understsnd better than you.

Since you are an Iowa fan, one would think you’d understand that huge player rotations are a disaster and rarely work.
This. The time for trying out 10-12 players is during the pre-conference when you get the opportunity to play multiple line-ups. Playing 10-12 players in mid-season means you have failed as a coach to come up with your 7-8 core players that are going to suck up every minute except for trash time at the end of a game. And right now...Lard (and Wiggs) need as much time as they can get given their situations...

Talley would be the 8th guy in the rotation right now, not the10th or 12th. He would be helping give the wings and guards a rest, not eating into Lard or Wiggintons minutes. He's obviously in Prohm's doghouse still since he was suspended or you would see him more than just garbage time.

I agree Conditt just has too many bodies in front of him right now, if we play 4 guards its going to be impossible for him to get minutes over Lard or Jacobson.

This isn’t trying out 10-12.
It’s 8-9 and that’s a significant difference, particularly when #7 has proven to be extremely foul prone.

For a team that many say prioritizes small ball and positionless basketball at the 1-4, it’s surprising that the healthy Talley we saw last year doesn’t have a role this year, particularly given the struggles of a couple of the guys in the rotation. Given the suspension of Talley and the recruiting accolades of his competition, there’s likely a non-basketball component to it.

It’s not a huge deal, but there were opportunities to get bench guys more minutes. It’s a long play that some coaches don’t recognize or utilize.

Lmao, what??? Are you the conditioning coach, these are some of the best athletes on the planet, you've determined he's in "terrible shape" on what basis?

I'm talking conditioning on the basis of other P5 basketball players. Go watch his minutes in the Texas Tech game. He played 17 minutes in that game (double what he normally plays) and he was dragging down the court at times. He looked exhausted.

He looked like he was not in shape to play more than 10 mpg.

Either way, that's not surprising for a FR post player. My guess is he'll be in much better conditioning shape next year.

Pretty sure Talley is behind Lewis and I could make the case Griffin should play ahead of him too, if needed. Nothing against Zion's play but we know his limitations on offense. Lewis is a sophomore and better shooter, Zion being a top 100 recruit would benefit from time on the court. Truth is Talley is graduating and had troubles in the off season to hurt Prohm's trust.

With Jacobson, Lard, and Solo all primed for most of the 4/5 duty, is Talley going to get back on CSP's good graces with some minutes this season?

Probably not, Im sure we'll see some of him here and there but the fact is he has better players in front of him competing for minutes. I could see him getting 10 minutes one night then not being used the next, depending on gameflow and matchups.

And then....................

If they can't even come in for a few minutes at a time to give the starters a break then why are they even on the team? Talley is a guy who played 25 minutes last year against Big 12 competition, you are telling me if he comes in for 5 minutes our 15 point lead vanishes due to one player? Thats completely ridiculous.

Also, I thought we had depth this year? He's riding the starters just as hard as he's always done, all I've heard all year is how much depth we have but he's not using it if thats the case.

Emergencies? Im sure Talley is just thrilled with the role of practice body and "emergencies". All Im saying is if Prohm is scared to death that him getting 3 minutes to give one of our guards a breather is such a risk to us losing the game, guys like him and Lewis shouldnt even be on the team.

Huge? We are talking about an 8 player rotation here. Im not talking about getting the 12th man on the roster minutes. How do you know he's engaged? If I was a betting man Id be willing to put some money down that he wont be here next year.

Classic Cyclonefanatic, talk all off-season about the best depth we've had in the history of the progam and how we should go 10 deep.......fast forward to teams only play 7 guys anyways, why do you want anyone after that getting spot minutes, and some guys only should be used in emergencies.

Priceless!!!! Oh wait...............I'm a troll.

I know there are good players ahead of him, but still thought he may get a few more minutes, especially with Lard in foul trouble (fouling out) and our inability to stop KU inside at the end of the game.

I tend to agree with getting him in against KU, especially in the second half when it looked like KU was running a layup drill. Seemed like KU was moving their post play out to create space a lot of the time, so maybe it wouldn't make any difference.

Digging up old posts to try to prove worthless point? Only complete losers with too much time on their hands, no life, no job, no future resort to stuff like that. Thanks for outing yourself.

I wont even get into the fact I said all that before we knew Young would be out for the year. Talley is versatile and can play the 4 or 3.

Thats right Im a grown man, not a whining little boy like yourself who is so triggered anytime mentions your trigger word. Don't think I haven't been reading you guy's posts just because I left the losers forum.

I literally have no idea what any of this means.

This thread is the problem with discussions on here. “Conditt should play more” does not mean someone thinks he should be playing a ton of minutes. We needed another big against Kansas with Lard fouling out and Jacobson not being able to do much defensively. That is a pretty much indisputable fact. Was Conditt actually sick who knows. Maybe he helps there maybe he doesn’t. It is a fair critique of the coaching this year to ask why we seem to pretend certain players are ineligible.
